The wheel lock-to-lock trick is to get the BAS/ESP light to go off after a dyno or any other time you've removed Fuse 17/18. When you have those fuses removed I believe you have completely disabled the ESP system therefore the sensors that detect when your tires have lost traction are not functioning. These sensors being tripped by a loss of traction are what I believe causes the TC light to flicker or come on.

I think you are good to go as soon as you re-install fuse 17/18.

I will not be liable for saying yes or no as I am not 100% certain, but I think that is correct. I never have felt the need to pull those fuses, and just don't think I'll ever see the need.

XF725, it's my understanding that even pulling the fuse # 17 & 18 dosen't completely shut the traction control off.
I had to disconnect the "center" wire on the ECU to totally disable the TC, but it also eliminates the anti-lock brakes as well.
As far as I know, only the 2004 6 spd Crossfires can get away with this procedure with no other ill effects.
I don't recommend that you do it, so if you choose to do so, it's at your own risk.
I had to do it, because my car had an overly sensitive TC and the slightest wheelspin would put my car into "limp mode". So you can imagine the dangerous situations I got myself into more than once while pulling out into on coming traffic.

There is no second ESP lamp other than the BAS/ESP lamp.


Pulling #17 and #18 pretty much totally disables the TCS and ESP....... with one huge warning though.

If you do this be ABSOLUTELY SURE YOU CHECK THAT THE BRAKE LIGHTS STILL WORK!!!!!!!!!!!

I've only tried this on 2005 and 2004 models..... on my 2005 I had no problem with the brake lights, on MI1XFIRE's 2004 the brake lights were not working at all.

in my motor bay in my fuse box i dont have a 17 and 18 fuse. the holes are closed up. an i got no lights on. never pulled it or nothing. i bought it from someone who drove it only on sunday . would ahve never pulled it? i have a 04 crossfire manual. is it in a diff place? and if not what the hell is the center wire on the ecu lol. cause i wanna put the two fuses on switches. please help me locate

my fuse panel says 17 andd 18 are free spots. Like not used. So wat fuses would I ppull were should I look?

On 04 models there is a small fuse block in front of the battery. Inside there are three fused links(there are slots for four). The center one I believe is the traction control. It's marked Hydraulic traction or something like that. I can post a pic tomorrow if you have problems finding it.

if you can that woud help. i just looked thnk i found it. its like a wire going to a 50amp fuse? so i dissconect the wire? and i have no traction crontrol? and would i be abe to cut the wire and splice it into a switch, and will dash lights come on? thank you

If you want to have fun, you can pull off the plug of the yaw rate sensor.
But note that this will cause a P code.

It's not a good idea to remove fuse 17/18 and drive, because than the electronic brake force distribution is disabled.

As I said earlier, besides losing you TC, you will also lose your anti lock brakes, and yes, the warning lights will stay on.
As Apkano pointed out, I guess only the 6spds. can get away with it. MI1XFIRE has an 04 automatic. So it effected his brake lights.
I would assume an on/off switch could be installed, but on a 50 amp fuse, I would think it would have to be pretty heavy duty.

Yeah, 50 Amps would require a relay. IMO it's not worth the trouble.

So I have full traction control off. Muchh easier to spin out :) lol.....and I have a extra hid relay. Would I beable to use that? Between the sire an the switch, or between the switch and the fuse

An if I can't use that relay, still would the relay be bettween the source and the switch or between the source and the fuse?

Yeah bro would love that. I'm estimatiing another month till done.....idk if ne of ya remember, alotta people were telling me to dcap her, an now its gonna look a million times better then I had it. Real exxcited. Were is the run located.

An still gotta answer my question....will a hid relay I have left over work? Dnt see why not?....an also dose the relay go between the source and the switch or the switch and the fuse?
