Long story short,

1:30 am: cruisin' down @ about 50 down the road, windows open, beautiful night, long strip of open road, just then a deer runs out in front of me and before i can even react BAM , the deer is 12 feet in the air, and im in shock, got out of car, no sight of deer (lucky for him because i was so mad i prolly would have smacked it across the face) then walked to front of my baby and behold.. damage..a lot of it.

hood wrecked, new grill wrecked, headlights wrecked, front bumper wrecked, basically the front end..

Ouch! So sorry to for you to have gone through that. Hopefully all the damages can be repaired ok. I always have a fear of dear down here too since I see them all around me.

 

Ouch... The deer in the ny and nj area are big too! I bet he did a ton of damage.

 

nature's pedestrians sure can ruin your day. You might want to PM crossfire725, he's been gathering parts to rebuild his car after his accident and may have some leads

 

Watch your insurance company very closely. Rudy has a story to tell you about hitting a deer!

 

Man, I really hate to hear that!!! I am in the same situation, only it wasn't a deer it was a 1970's van make of steel (that incurred NO damage). I feel your pain. Hope you get it fixed soon....

 

Oh that sucks man, they are plentiful in my area also, having darted out in front of my friends eclipse a couple of weeks ago. My old man had similer worries about his new truck and suggested a couple of these in an inconspicuous place.

That's terrible, best of luck getting it back together and like Shada said, get some deer whistles, they really do work. I keep them on all my cars and the deer just watch me go by mostly.

I have a friend that says his deer whistle works great as he has never had any trouble with hitting a deer. I said I did not have a deer whistle and I had not hit any deer either.
How is it that deer can't hear a car but are supposed to hear a whistle that we do not know makes any noise at all?
When you go deer hunting it would seem that the best attraction for deer would be a recording of a car going down the street.

I've this deer whistle on my Harley, never hit a deer but it sure seems to make dogs want to run out in front of me!

Sorry to hear this, Hope it is fixable.

 

We have deer whistle's on our 2 crossfires and one on the P/U. They seems to work for us and have seen deer run away ,so I guess they can hear them.We live in the mountians in NC and our deer like Nj/NY are large to.Now if some one would come up with a bear whistle!Glad to hear your ok.

thank you for all your concern.. took the car to the body shop today, same shop i took my crossfire to when the traffic light fell on it, im looking at $2700 in damage, but they said i am out of luck on my aftermarket grill dropped it off, and i thought i was **** out of luck bc i sold my truck 2 days prior to this and i didnt have another car but even tho im 19 im under my parents policy and i get a 2010 nissan versa to rent until its fixed..

Glad your ok. they will have to adjust that estimate if one or both headlights are damaged based on the recent cost of new ones, or used for that matter.

 

That's a horrible feeling. I drive through a back road of Louisiana to get home from work each day and I have been very afraid that one may decide to jump out in front of me. This has already happened to me during my earlier years of college. Fortunately, Allstate took really good care of me then, with $3500 worth of damage. Just remember, if you have to hit any type of animal, do NOT end up off-road. Allstate's policy covers you as long as you stay on the road. This way, you do not take a harsh hit on your insurance by making a claim. I am installing deer whistles this weekend as I am frightened this may happen again one day

I've hit 3, or actually they've hit me, including one that ran into the side of our '04. I remember jumping out of the car afterwards armed with a snowbrush, ready to beat the crap out of the stupid doe that was, of course, nowhere to be found. I was one pis_ed off human!

BTW, deer whistles don't work other than giving the driver a placebo effect.
