Default crooked glove boxes...

One of the first things I noticed that was wrong with my car was that the glove box is crooked and down on the left side. I have been looking at some pics here of everyones cars and noticed I may not be the only one. Even one of the pics on edmunds has a crooked one.

When the dealer looked at mine they where unable to adjust it. None of the other cars on the lot where like this and they have been trying to work with corporate to order the correct replacment part for the glove box. I am not sure if it is not molded correctly or not.

I had a crooked glove bow and fixed it myself. I saw so many pictures of Crossfires that were straight that I finally got Pissed and just did it myself. The first thing you should check is, see if the box moves when you push on it. If it does then you can adjust it a little and it might straighten yours out. If there is a little play in the box, loosen up the screw under the latch and move the latch towards the firewall. If you move it too far the box wouldn't engage and will keep onpening. I just moved it a little and it made all the difference. I think the screw was a torx but don't quote me on that.

mine is crooked like Cyrils is:

I can push it up on the left side and it aligns up. The dealer tried adjusting all the screws that hold it in but never the latch it hooks to. I will take a look at it tonight and see if i can straighten it out.

Thanks!!!

What causes mine to be crooked is from the cell phone holder tightening out the clearance in the upper left side area.

Xfirejunky,

That seemed to work!!

You are correct if you push it all the way back then it will not latch. You have to bring it just the smallest amout foward.

The other trick if figured out was to twist the latch to the side (it won't move much) as if you are trying to make it point to the passanger door. If it is centered or pushed towards the drivers door then it will not line up either.

Thanks for the help!

-marc

p.s. I guess I should tell my dealer about it...

I think mightyjlr drilled another hole to bring the cell holder higher. If you compare the distance of his cell holder from the top with mine...mightyjlr's is higher.

I'll try if it'll align better by bringing the cell holder higher with a new hole.

I have not received my holder yet but will mess with it once I get it. I also noticed that mightyjlr even has a wire running into his glovebox. If I have to drill a hole than so be it.

also where did you get the silver univeral cell phone holder? All I have seen is black. I will most likley paint my bracket like yours too.

Thanks!

The dealer replaced my glovebox today...

Now it looks like the one Mightyjlr has with my phone adaptor in it. Before it was only crooked when the cellphone mount was on after I tweaked it.

Hey Drunkiq,

Where did you get that iPod setup? I saw another pic on this post farther up where it was attached to the cig lighter output, but that wouldn't work for me with my manual. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks! 8)

Thanks. I've never used one of those cell phone holders or even seen one outside of a photo which is why it wasn't obvious.

There are a few of us who use that cell phone holder as our GPS holder. It works great!
