Smile new xfire owner and some questions

Hi! my name is Marcelo, I'm 25 and I moved into the states about a month ago to work for a couple of years. I brought all of my hard earned saving up here and ended up buying a crossfire with 46k miles on it for 9500. I'm really happy with the car!!!!
I wanted to introduce myself in the forum and also ask a couple of questions about it.
1. I've got a manual '04 and sometimes the first gear pops out, i know it not a rare occurrence, but it only happens if i'm distracted and don't put the first gear all the way in. However, the syncros should be changed sometime. How much would that work cost me?
2. I've got some minor noise coming from the rear of the car, it's not rattling so i don't think it's the trunk door.. what else could it be?
3, I've got the original infinity system on it, however the cd reader is not reading the cds sometimes, and it says no cd even though a cd is in it.. should i just change it?

Thanks a lot guys! I'm loving my car and hope to become a proud member of the community!

PD forgot to mention, I'm argentinian in case you were wondering

Welcome!

I don't have the stick, so someone else can help you with that.

Most common noise is from the hatch. Seems tight but it still makes noise when going over bumps. There are many postings about how and where to place two pieces of velcro on the body to stop the noise, I did it and it works. Search.

For the cd player, some will say to buy aftermarket. It is personal preference. The OEM head units come up on ebay quite often and for around $100 in good condition. Someone here on the forum may sell you one they changed out. Post a want ad in the classifieds here on the forum.

Good luck with your purchase. James

Check this link on TSB's (Tech Service Bulletin):

https://www.crossfireforum.org/forum...data-tsbs.html

One or both of the following TSB's may prove helpful:

TBS: 9-Mar-04 - 21-002-04 - Manual Trans - First Gear Disengages During Normal Acceleration
TBS: 6-Jan-05 - 21-001-05 - Manual Trans - Gear Grind Sound When Shifting

The shifting on my Manual 6 is solid and clean and never pops out of 1st on normal or hard acceleration.

I'm not sure if there is a possible linkage adjustment that can be made, but if there is, maybe someone will chime in...

Also on the Manual there is no easy way to check on low fluid (lack of dip stick), and it requires a visual inspection.

Might not hurt to inspect tranny for possible leaks...

Thanks for the data, i'll check the transsmition for leaks. also, on the back noise, i'm starting to think it might be the ball bearings ( is that how they're called.. my English vocabulary is still not that extensive) since the last owner was an old lady and I don't think maintenance besides the usual stuff was her strong point... any ideas on how to check these on the Xfire?
