Default Potential new owner

Hey guys! I'm possibly going to pull the trigger tomorrow on a 2004 graphite metallic with 68k on the clock for around $11k and am very excited! Full disclosure, I'm really a Camaro guy and am a member of Camaro5.com under the name blackZbandit, but it's time to buy another car and since I'm heading back to school full time next year I can't commit to $40k for a new 5th gen F-Body.

I've always loved the styling of the Crossfire and decided that if my current beater dies before I'm out of school the XF would be my next vehicle. I've test driven a couple, and while they are a bit tight (I'm 5'10 and a wide 250lbs... almost all muscle though lol), they were a blast to drive and I had fun scaring a couple of car salesmen playing with the autostick!

With all that said, the CarFax on the car I'm looking at looks pretty clean; 2 owners (1st was a lease), no accidents, not many service records though. I'm going to the dealership tomorrow afternoon and wanted to know what items or problems particular to this car I should look for and/or ask about. Also, I've done my research and know about the issue with the transmission leak, do any of you have an idea of about how much that repair runs? And last, but certainly not least... what's the best CUP HOLDER solution?! (can you tell I've been lurking for a couple of days? lol)

Any help would be greatly appreciated... thanks!

You've chosen the finest color Crossfire made. Best advice for the cupholder is not to use it. Otherwise swap it out for the small bin that comes with the standard XF (not the Limited). I'd just make sure every accessory and feature works, especially heated seats. Make sure they changed the oil with full synthetic (Mobil1 0W-40) as I bought two used XFs that the dealers had put in dino oil. Check tires for wear, brakes, etc. These things are generally reliable with few power train issues although sometimes the accessories and "luxury features" fail.

Ignorance is the best cup holder solution. Just pretend it isn't there.

The car you are driving is not an Escalade and God forbid, not a Camaro.

It is truly a seat of the pants Sports Car.

So,,,,for what do you need a cup holder?

Transmission leak, $500 fix if it is the cable seal and you have it done. I thinksome guys here have done it themselves for the parts.

It sounds like you picked up a steal deal. Be careful of the cops looking for you. You will drive it like you stole it,,,,,,'cause you did.

Congrats and welcome to the Crossie support group.

Heated seats---check them!!! Also, check cars on this site for sale---half the miles for a thousand less---something to consider of at least show the dealer and tell them you are walking and DO---they will NOT let you go in this economy!!! Good luck and welcome Jimmy

I agree with the above posts. I just picked a second XF over the weekend (2004 Black Limited Coupe) with 17,000 miles for $11,000 from a private party. I feel I got a great deal for such a low milage vehicle. I'd try to negotiate a better deal or look else where. JMHO.
