Hello,

My first post of course is a technical one. It's been hot here is Southern California and I have been running the air conditioning.

After parking my car I noticed fluid dripping from the undercarriage. Upon further inspection it does appear to be water, but what's unusual is it was dripping near the transmission area, toward the firewall and on the drivers side.

Has anyone ever experienced this? Could this be from the air conditioning? I did a search and came up with this post: https://www.crossfireforum.org/forum...car-water.html but I don't think that user ever discovered where the water came from or attributed it to rain.

It has not rained here and I have not washed the car recently.

If you're running the ac that's more than likely where it's coming from.

 

I think you maybe right. I am going to drive it today without air and check it again.

 

If it is the ac it's nothing to worry about.

 

Bottom line, if your not sure, you need to jack it up and get underneath for a look, or take to your local guy, and put it on a lift.

If it's just AC water, give your mechanic a tip, and drive it like you stole it.

Not to depress, but it could always be oil from leaky Value Covers, or that leaky Tranny plug.

Better to be safe, and nothing beats peace of mind...

 

Thanks Pat... I am almost positive it is not oil or tranny fluid (although I have read of the transmission solenoid leaking in that similar area), the spot where the fluid leaked in was dry in the morning.

I am going to jack it up today as well, you're right, better safe than sorry.

 

The AC drain terminates in the tranmission tunnel area, so that's more than likely what it is, condensate from the evaporator, quite normal........

Drove it yesterday to a friends house 45 minutes away with no AC and no leaks. Had a look at the underside and was completely dry.

It's great to now know the AC drain terminates in the trans tunnel area.
