Default 255 45 18 fitment?

Would that size clear the front? I have a friend who is willing to give me his practically new tires cheap and they are 255 45 18.

Thanks.

I used 255 by 35 18 on the front using aftermarket 8.5" wide rims with 10mm spacers. If you cant use them I would be interested for autocrossing. Woody Mounting is going to be a bittch.

255 s should fit to an 8" rim. I ran 275s easily on a 8,5" rims.

So it wouldnt rub anywhere if i mount 255 45 18s up front without spacers right
?

again: with 8.5 rims and shorter profile and 10mm spacers I got mine on, used ether to inflate tires, tire shop could not complete the mounting due to width. Woody BOOM, great sport if you have the bals.

I wanted to bump this.

I am still not clear. I think you are trying to tell me that you were able to them properly fit with spacers..

I know for fact 255 wide tires will mount on 8" rims. What I am not sure is sidewall being 45 and tires being a little wider than the stock 225s, would they rub anything?

Anyone who could shed a light on this, I would appreciate your help.

Thank you.

As long as you drove straight ahead, it would be fine. But as soon as you turned hard left or right, the tire would rub violently on the inner plastic wheel well and would most likely be shredded by the upper control arm nut.

The answer is a confident NO.

For what it's worth, the tallest and fattest tire you should consider up front on OEM wheels is 235/40R18, while incurring acceptable rubbing on the wheel well.

Some people use a combination of spacers for exotic after-market wheels and tire sizes, but from a practical sense they are not a good idea, particularly up front where clearances are so tight.

I'll go with Kane on this. While am running 19" (235/35-19) in front, the OD is nearly identical to OEM and I needed spacers to clear the upper control arm nut. And they still rub (inside front) on full lock.

You have a good buddy, but I don't think this will go. Actually, there is no thinking involved-they wont fit. Sorry, bud.

Depending what you are runnin on the rear, I think these may be taller than your rear tires. 255 40 18 are a perfect match to the stock rear tire. I am running 265 40 18 in the rear which is slightly taller than a 255 35 19 I am running 235 40 18 on the front. My wheels are 8.5 and 9.5 wide. this doesn't look like a good idea.
