When the kids were little we had a Chrysler Minivan that we purchased brand new.....between the 1 & 2 year mark the Mopar OEM battery just died while we were in a restaurant.

In my experience with car batteries some will just go bad some will not. An example is the one in my truck is 10 years old and still going strong, just a reg one from Autozone. I've had others that didn't last 2 years.

batteries are a mystery sometimes. But, with that said, clean terminals, good connections, especially between the battery and alternator, are important. Not leaving things on like a gps, phone charger all night. Little things start to take their toll on batteries. My Varta I took out of the roadster in still on the shelf, I keep it charged and use it to jump start things, like the lawn mower. The other Varta I took out of the coupe is still powering a dump trailer a friend of mine has. I would buy another one of those batteries after my shurykins go dead...

Could just be a bad battery -- sediment shorted out a cell or a plate crumbled. Check your terminals and make sure they are clean. Take it to an Autozone for a free alternator and battery check. Check the voltage across the terminals with the fully charged battery disconnected (should be 13.2) and then when it is connected to make sure nothing is drawing current. Oledoc2u, if a teeny GPS battery is drawing down that big car battery, then it's not a very good car battery. Yes, it could happen over weeks, but not within 12 hours. Especially when the cigar lighter powers down when the car is off (my A6 stays on all the time, and I often forget and leave the GPS and radar detector going for days and that battery is the original in a 2003!).

There is always a very small battery drain on these cars.
