Engine stops for no apparent reason while driving
My wife has a 2004 Crossfire Roadster that the engine intermittently just dies for no apparent reason. It has been to the shop twice and no problem was found. We have taken it to an independent shop where they replaced the Starter Motor but 2 days later the same problem occurred. Sometimes after sitting for several hours it will start again. We had it towed last nigh back to the shop that replaced the Starter and when the car was dropped off it stated right up. I am afraid to let my wife drive it because this can has happened in heavy traffic and she or someone else could be seriously hurt or killed.
Has anyone seen this problem of have any advice on what may be causing it to occur. It has become more frequent in the past month.
Thank you for your time and consideration.

If it's a Roadster it's a 2005. The RCM or the CPS is the most likely culprit. There are links on this website on how to repair both. I am sure the experts on this site will be weighing in soon.
A bad starter will not cause an engine to stop while driving. A common problem that will cause the engine to stop running, or not start, is a bad CPS Crank Position Sensor. It's also typical that after it cools it will start working again. You can search the forum to find many threads on this. Most everyone will highly recommend that you use a Bosch CPS replacement.
Another cause is a bad RCM Relay Control Module. Here is a link to a long thread on it:

I experienced both problems at different times with my 2004 coupe.

Well since they replaced the starter.. I'm throwing out a guess.. when it died there was nothing at the key when trying to start.. Which leads directly to the Relay Control Module (RCM).. Click that link that was shared above .. or click the red text in my signature to find out about this.
RCM : turn key, lights on dash, no starter engagement.
CPS : starter always engages, sometime the engine starts
SKREEM : starter always engages, engine never starts, 3 times and then nothing until you disconnect/reconnect the battery.

Good Evening,
Same problem with mine, engine would shut off while driving. Found out it was RCM and the solder was bad. My mechanic re-soldered the control board with new solder. Car is running great.

To all who provided information on our problem I can't tell you how much we appreciate your willingness to share. We provided this information to our mechanic and things are once again working as they should.
Thank you all for your time and consideration.

Frank, if you don't mind could you tell us what your mech did to fix your problem?
It's ur relay control module look on YouTube under no crank no start and u can fix the problem with a soldering iron some silver solder some flux and a bit of confidence I had the same issue and since I fixed mine it's been okay
....p.s. Or you can go on rockauto and buy a new relay control module for right around 120 bucks ....but the solder and stuff will only cost 35 to 40

Or send it to DJ, post number 7 and have it rebuilt including the relays. If you buy a new one, send your old one to DJ anyway and keep it as a spare.
