Hey all,
I'm on several Forums, and thought I'd do the proper thing and do an intro thread.
I live in Florida, had my sapphire blue metallic XF since new, very close to 90,000 miles on it now. Been a good car, I have it totally stock, but would like to get a chip for it someday. It's garage-kept and in excellent condition minus a few door dings.
Only had one real problem with a camshaft alignment sensor. The headliner is falling down, I need to get that fixed, I've used a few staples, lol, and seen the thread in here. I am one of those characterized as "under-employed" so things like fixing that aren't a priority right now.
My main hobbies are playing drums (I'm active on a drummer's forum) and model trains (couple of those forums, too). No, the XF is not a good drum-hauler, but it carries what I need like cymbals, a snare and some hardware with no problem.
My one tip is tires, as they are expensive for the XF. I tried Toyo Proxxes T1R's (they were great), and for those in the US, I found Cooper Xeon RS3-S's this year, and they are excellent and quite a bit less than the Toyos.

Nice to meet you, Rock. Cool that you play bass! I've been at drums 39 years now, and am on the Pearl Drummer's Forum.
Seems a lot of great info in here. I kind of feel like a pansy as my car is totally stock, but I'm ok with that, lol.

Welcome. I have had my 04 SSB coupe for 2 years now.
I am hifigramps on several music and home theater forums. I used to spend most of my retirement reviewing DVD-Audio and SACD discs. Now I spend it driving my XF.

Well HiFiBri you certainly gave many of us here a healthy dose of reality. You've made it to nearly 90k miles without needing any of the massive amount of wit and wisdom that gets dispersed here on the Crossfire Forum on a daily basis.
Maybe we're not so indispensable after all.

Glad to see you finally found us. Lots of Crossfire owners in Florida, you owe it to yourself to make it to one of their GTG's before your car hits 100k. I promis you won't regret it.

I'm with ya', although DVD-Audio didn't make it, and you don't hear much about SACD anymore. I have a complete suite of Revel Performas, Anthem Front end and power, and a Sony ES DVD/CD/SACD player. But the Sony has broken now twice as far as reading SACD's. First time it was under warranty, but now I've been on the frugal side to send it in. Which svcks as I'm so spoiled with the SACD, I don't really enjoy regular old CD's. I looked a little, Sony doesn't even make SACD players anymore (which is odd as they co-invented it with Philips, right?). I need to break down and send it in.

Funny, I consider the XF to be a "southern car" and can't really see driving one in the snow. I suppose with some snow tires and some weight in the "trunk" (what do you call it), it'd be fine.
I should mention I do have the cedar interior and also the luggage set
Thanks for the welcome, I like the customization you've done. Yeah, I never really looked for XF GTG's will have to do one.

And almost 90,000 banter-free miles, yes I should have found this place earlier, lol.

Lol, I'm originally from WI but have been in FL too long to think of "garaging it for the winter". The thought of driving it on salted or sanded road makes me cringe, glad you keep it away from that stuff.
Thanks for the tip!
Welcome aboard!
I also play the drums, I once stuffed my whole kit in my limited, It was the first and last time I ever try to do that again
four piece drums, throne and two stands. I had to put my other parts in another car!

I did fit 18 pieces of sod in mine once. I have a big plastic tarp, wrapped the sod all up, couldn't tell one bit I did it, but the sod place guys thought I was insane.
Yeah, and I just found this place last month, figured I might as well join. I found it in a link on the Wikipedia entry for the XF.
It's my only car (I'm single, too), but the 90K for a 2004 is considered low mileage for the year. Been a great car except a couple little things. I can't say it's the perfect car if it's your lone vehicle, but yet am very happy to own a XF. I think it will be good to well over 300K...now if I can still get in and out of it then is another thing
