Default A BOV on a Crossfire?

OK i know the crossfire doesnt have a BOV but i do believe it to have one of the loudest stock sounding intakes I have ever had then. Ever since i hit redline i have noticed the woosh of air kinda like a turbo makes, the whirl sound, and when i let off the gas it sounds like a weak bov the pssssst. sound. Is this just normal on Crossfires? Because on every naturally aspirated car i have had has never done this. THanks[/quote]

My crossfire does the same thing, although not all the time. It is usually when I am shifting right at redline, or if I bounce off the rev limiter. I think it is due to turbulence inside the intake. I wouldn't worry about it.

Mine makes that noise as well. Is that perhaps an indication of an airflow restriction? Also what is a BOV?

I was kind of wondering that myself, so I did a google search.

I cam up with "Bank Of Valetta", "Brothers Of Vengence", and this one:

BOV Design - WWW-. - WWW- €. € . . € , , .

Then I stumbled upon "Blow Off Valves", which is probably it, but I have absolutely no idea what it is...

:-(

They are also known as Pop-Off valves.

LOL poor Jsisabella...

Yah it just refers to the release of pressure in turbo engines... people call them different things...

like WM said... Pop Off values... im sure there are plenty of more names for them

A BOV releases pressure built up by a turbo. When you switch gears or suddenly let off the throttle in a turbo charge vehicle, the RPM's drop and the boost that has built up has to be released. The Blow off valve is what allows this to happen. It is considered "cool" to have a loud BOV. Many people who drive WRX's, STi's, SRT-4's and the like, switch out their stock BOV for one that makes more SWOOSH. They do sound pretty neat.

Bobafett You think i should take it to the dealer? Because it didnt do that before. Although i must admit it feels faster to me now then before. Others are talking about this too. Hmmmmmmm well its not running bad, but it sounds like a weak turbo with a quiet bov. Wonder if it will get louder with my KandN's installed been sittin in my hatch for 2 weeks now. Thought maybe i should wait awhile till i put them in. Only 500 miles on the XF. Oh the lights look wicked. Did you get your exhaust yet?

I got a feeling Bull... its like Dan said... your gonna pop that cover off and its gonna go bye bye... your getting a strange air flow from the tubing im guessing!

It sounds hot! I'd die to have turbo hooked to this car... with a ENORMOUS GREDDY BOV!!! so loud it will blow the clothes off of girls...

Turbo is hella sweet IMO to SC... just because of the noise!! i'd take it even if I lost like 30 hp compared to a SC engine...
