Default Original stick car engine into automatic car?

I have the option of picking up a very low mileage 2004 engine and transmission unit as a spare at a good price, but it a stick and my car is an automatic. I know the engine/trans is from a 2004 car also, but not the month it was made. My car is from the summer of 2003.

How different is the engine? Is it a matter of just exchanging the stick trans flywheel for the aurto trans flexplate on my existing engine? I have seen in some other cars (rare instances) where the actual crankshaft is different, or something else is a major pain, and the installation is not worth the hassle (making it best to look for an original A/T engine).

Also, anybody need a spare stick transmission? Make 'ya a deal

Default (PLEASE HELP) Original stick car engine into automatic car?

Please, does anybody have a clue about this? I probably have to make a decision on this today. I don't want to spend the money and haul this stuff home (and store it!) only to find out later when I need it that it won't work in my car.

Thanks ahead of time.

My guess is that it would be a nightmare! I can't imagine trying to put in a clutch pedal, shifter, etc. different computer, etc. etc......

Oh, just realized you only would swap the engine. I think that would be the same, but I'm no expert.
