Default 2005 Black Base Coupe

Hi. I'm new here. I just ordered a 2005 Crossfire Coupe. My dad currently has a 2004 Coupe (I guess now referred to as the Limited), and I was wondering if you could fill me in on a few of the differences.

Most importantly, I want to know what, if anything, goes in place of the center console compartment and cup holder. I never liked the cup holder and am not sad to see it go, but I'm wondering if there is at least an armrest where the storage compartment was.

Are there any other things missing in the interior? What are the cloth seats like? I'm having trouble finding any interior shots of this model anywhere on the web, so any info or pictures would be great.

Thanks in advance, and I'm excited to be part of the community.

David

Base model only comes with a manual tranny (to bad the SRT6 dosen't)

Base model only comes in black

Base model has no exterior silver trim parts

Base model appears to have totally different seats (look at the headrests) and are not powered and have no heat

Base model has a four speaker CD stereo

Base model is suppose to have less sound insulation

Base model has a storage hole where the cup holder is on the limited version.

Base model has no tire pressure gage

My understanding is that the Base model does not have traction control

hope that helps,

-marc

btw - there are a set of dark grey seats (should match your interior) for sale on ebay at the moment.

Re traction control, the new brochure lists it as standard for the Crossfire, Crossfire Limited and SRT6.
I checked the list and everything else is covered in drunkiq's post.

Unless you want a base model you can buy low mile 04's for about the same price. And it has all there is except nav. I've seen new 04's at $6,500 off msrp= $28,000, 6sp. new. Base model is 29k.

I should have been more specific, I already ordered the car for a lease. My family gets DC employee leases. Thanks for the info, I'd love to hear from someone who has seen the interior.

The Chrysler site lists the auto dimming rear view mirror as standard on all models. I guess I'll just have to wait and see if this is true, or just a mistake.

BullFrog, how would you compare the comfort of the different seats?

Dan Root I know the amount of Mercedes componetry in this car however my limited has high back seats that dont look like any Mercedes Benz current model seat as far as look and design. The seats on the base coupe are identical in design and appearance to my aunts SLK 230 thats what i meant by that.

DG the comfort is actually not that different though the base coupe seat feels firmer and bolsters are way better and you can actually adjust the headrests. The limited seats are just more comfy and fuller and also their high back (no adjustable headrest) with nice soft leather doesnt kill your back on long hauls, but comfort doesnt always mean alertness so in that case the coupe cloth seats are better if you need to be alert and also for performance driving. Though i wish they would have a leather option.

And yeah thats a typo the self dimming mirror is not included in the base coupe.

The XF leather seats are basically the same as in the SLK32 AMG.

i just notice on the SLK 32 yeah but they have ribbed bottoms. whereas the base coupe is almost as if they tore the seat directly out a SLK 230/320 and bolted on to my car.

Actually, Dan, mine says"U.S./Canadian Parts content: 1%. Major sources of foreign parts content: Germany: 80%" Doesn't say "Mercedes"

Dave,

Right now I'm in Ann Arbor, I go to UM. Where do you live?

I don't have a delivery date yet, it was just ordered on Monday (though my stepmom's Pacifica is ready, ordered the same day).

Two Davids in MI waiting on Crossfires, what are the odds?

We should PM and meet up sometime!

David
