Coil Springs - Broken
Hi All, did my oil change & spark plugs yesterday. While putting the belly cover back on I saw my front left side coil spring is broken. Below is the picture. Looks like its been broken for awhile.

Do you guys know the part number for Mercedes? and while I am changing this should I do the other side as well or just do this one? and I am guessing the alignment I did on Friday is gone to waste?

Yep, straight swap although they are super stiff by comparison. If performance is your concern they are going to be better than the NAs and even the eibachs. If ride comfort is important to you look into replacing with stock or one of the aftermarket options.
Was thinking of just buying one but as you said if its stiffer than N/A then ride would feel weird with just one srt spring on front. In this case should I change both? Stock replacement is costing $154 each. eibachs gona cost me $350ish. Wish I lived in us.. sourcing a part is painful enuf and on top of that I live in Canada which is not helping lol.
I would say do both front if you are going with the SRT springs. I don't know how much of a difference you would feel with just one but personally I would be way more comfortable with a matching set. You could also end up with different ride height on one side etc. with just doing one but I'm no expert. There are a good number of eastern Canada members and a few that have done drops on their rides. You may want to try the marketplace section as there are a lot of people with dusty NA springs not being used.
Well right now I just wana change the front left with least amount of money. Junkyard has srt front left and right one quoted for $74 each.

I have stock NA springs laying in my garage if you are interested. I can even drive my car instead of the white f250 so you compare what srt springs look like installed in a NA

never change one as most are made in sets ,what i mean is the factory took the springs, measured them in height and psi, then matched as close as they could to make pairs,, then Mercedes put a larger spring pad on the driver's side because they knew from the SLK's that most of the time there would only be the driver in the car. jim
Here is your answer: Buy my set of near new SRT6 springs for $125 plus shipping: https://www.crossfireforum.org/forum...arts-sale.html
I am currently working in Milton on the train bridge down town beside target/winners/shoppers drug mart.

Beaner is a great guy, if you do meet up with him F the springs, ask if he can show you what's under the hood
And when he drives away make sure he steps on it at least briefly - then you'll really go green with envy!
Recap,
It was a visit at my place to change both front springs since they were both broken. Took a little longer than I expected but not too bad considering...
It was nice to meet another local crossfire member who is not retired

Any chance there is another front coil spring floating around southern Ontario, Canada looking for a good home?
This may be the last opportunity to save the 04 XF from passing on to it's second owner.
Would appreciate any advice you have in sourcing a driver's side used or set of new front coils.
Cheers

you never want to change one spring they are made in sets,, the spring pressure is the same in sets,, if you just replace only one your car will not track right, it will either go to the left or right. now if you want to do it right i have a new set of front kw springs with the rears used and with new shocks check it out here ,, jim

Thanks for the reply guys and I've PMed you Brian.
I know you 'should' do both at once but, this may just be her last drive to the lot in exchange for a new set of keys.
9 years and 235K km is an accomplishment and I've enjoyed the stares along the way...
Also enjoyed this blog from a voyeurs perspective all these years.
Anyone looking for a solid yet well driven XF in Southern Ontario?
Cheers!
