Default Tell me what you think!!!

So I just purchased a 04 crossfire 90k miles for 6995 (financed that is) and before I can pick it up or get it dropped off, the lot in which sold me the car has it at the chrysler dealership getting the locks replaced. I thought to myself no biggie since the its just door locks... the car has now been there for almost two weeks. One week before I purchased it and it's been a week since ive been waiting for it. When asking lot about what's taking so long he said the tech had to order a part which took awhile and had the weekend off.. and he also said electrical work can be tricky... should I be worried or no..does it take two weeks to replace door locks... why would he refer to it as an electrical problem...what should I do???

You should be worried.
You should be VERY worried, especially if it's at a Chrysler dealer, the chances of them having any expertise is around 10%.
It's most likely either the locking pump or the SKREEM module, neither one of which is cheap.
The door locks in the XF are operated by air pressure / vacuum supplied by the pump, the SKREEM is the module that works with the key fob to tell the pump to do it's thing.

( You did ask what I thought, right ? )

So I should be.. I mean at the same time this is not coming out of my pockets and not included in the car price since techNically they had it in the shop before I put a down payment on the car...trying not to get so nervous since the car fax checked out perfectly fine.

I'm sure everything will be fine.

LOL.....well, it doesn't take 2 weeks to change locks or to wait on parts. I would stop by the dealer and do a little snooping. The above description of what is probably wrong, skreem module, vacuum pump, are very common problems here lately. Water getting into the trunk area is also a locking system problem. It will be interesting to hear your response when you get it back. Price was good. Just be glad they are fixing it, but, and a very big but, is you have it financed and will be making a payment soon on a car you do not have. That would **** me off....good luck. You will get a lot of help here...but, go do some investigative work before it becomes your problem.

Thanks for the advice from everyone but that's exactly why I'm sort of worried... locks should really take that long especially 2 weeks at the manufacturers dealership you know... and again I'm sort of pissed because my payment is due in 3 weeks and I haven't drove it but once (test drive)... I am grateful because they could of ignored the problem and let him me take it home and have me come out of pocket when it messes up.. but and here's a BIG BUT when I used the fob/key to unlock the door, it didn't display any lag or hesitation so when he told me about it I was skeptical you know..

you are saying the door locks worked fine. The ignition key I assume worked fine and it started and locked just fine? I would go to the dealer and ask what they are actually fixing. And, I would explain to the local car lot, that if you don't get to drive the car in the first month of ownership, they can reimburse you the payment or make that payment up in some way....or else... They will understand your meaning.

Yes when I unlocked/locked and started the engine with the same key...it displayed no lag or hesitation... and I'm use to a little lag because I and my ole lady right now have a older Camry... but I'm most definitely going to get some type of reimbursement/proration of the car payment... im trying to maintain my cool because when you see a Big black man mad about something...cops get called too fast lol

You have some red flags here, which you are aware of. I would wonder why they are changing the locks, was the car repossessed? Was it a thief recovery? If everything worked ok, why the change? Do they have some fear that someone might use the keys they have to get into your car?

As far as it taking a couple of weeks, that could be explained and if course, it can easily be adjusted.

As far as I know..the car was traded in. Plus they had the car on the lot for about a month and a half now...why take so long to do it if that's something you needed to do all along
