Default Safer Outside mirror adjustment!!

I heard about this a year ago and it has made my driving MUCH safer and eliminates blind spots. This is especially important in Crossfires because of the small rear window and large C pillars.
Adjust the center rear view mirror as you normally would. Adjust your driver's side outside mirror as follows. Lean your head to the left and touch the window ( this is tough in a Crossfire as the roof height is low). Adjust the mirror outward until you can just see a portion of the rear quarter panel. For the passenger side outside mirror, move to the right until your head is approximately in the middle of the car. Adjust the passenger mirror until you can just see a portion of the passenger side quarter panel.
The learning curve takes a while. We're all accustomed to seeing our car as we glance at our outside mirrors. This is not the case with this adjustment.
As you are driving on the highway, select a middle lane, where cars can pass you on either side. As a car approaches you from behind, you'll see him in the center mirror. As he comes up to pass you, you'll lose his image in the center mirror, but immediately see him in the side mirror. As he continues to pass you, you will lose his image in the side mirror, but now see him outside your side window.
Those of you who take time to read and understand this will truly see the difference! You now can drive without fear of blind spots. Those who are resistant to change will find it odd and give up too soon.
Thanks for reading this thread, and let me know what you think.

Yup, that's exactly what I did... took about a week to get used to the view but works very well.
Good job with the write up.

I concur...I adjusted my mirrors this way from the start with my car and I would rate this as one of the very best driving tips I've ever received.
