Default Cold Air Intake Tube sizes

I talked to www.greenfilterusa.com and they said that they don't have the kit available yet for our Crossfires and it's only the twister filters with aluminum casing that they're selling right now. He suggested that we can install it ourselves.

My question is what's the size and length of tubes do we need to get? I didn't really see any difficulty in replacing the plastic tubes with an aluminum one and securing it with silicon.

Any shots out there?

I haven't seen the SRT-6 front tubes...does it look like the same set-up as the green filters? If this set-up works well... I really don't find it difficult to imitate the set-up. Probably spray the inside tube and casing with ceramic paint to repel the heat...hey I can do that!

I'll use K&N cone filters instead of the green filters which are twice the price from K&N.

Hey, can anyone with SRT-6 post a pic on their tube here? It'll be greatly appreciated!

The SRT6s have a enlarged canister not that big though. All plastic can't be expensive. I'll price some.

Guys,

Green Filters set up. Was ripped off from me a long time ago, when I tried to get them to jump on board with the whole intake thing. I was stupid enought to send them a picture, hoping it would catch someones eye. They gave me the brush off, so I didn't really think about it again. Until about a month ago, I saw those same pictures. I laughed, because that design didn't work for me, and I know it sure as hell won't do much for them either. Besides the air filters that they have in that thing are like 250.00 ea. If I bought a filter that was 250.00. That thing better wash the car, and open the door for me when I get in. The other thing about it is, you still are using the same restrictive air box. I know it looks cool, but for performance its a killer.

So, how come they were shown at the SEMA show? Isn't there any standards about that SEMA show regarding new products and its performance? I'm excited to know what they'll come out in the dyno test!

Now the post I wanted to make....

Saskins, from what I remember of the pics of your first system, you used a K&N cone filter on the front. The problem with that is that all the air that currently gets channeled into the intake tube and is encased as it goes through the filter. With the cone, most of the air flows around the cone and isn't forced into it. Essentially you removed the ram air induction quality. Also, air traveling through the K&N (and similar cotton filters) flows perpendicular (K&N makes a big point of its ability to straighten out flow) and like all air flow areas, it doesn't like to make sharp turns.

For that matter I don't know exactly how the stock filters are angled in the air box and how much of an angle the air flow approaches them at.

Green filters twister essentially adds a short (very short) ram to the front of their cone, encapsulating it with incoming air pressurizing it and no way out but through the filter. Though I don't think the ram cone casing alone is enough to create much pressure differentiation without some more funneling in front of it to force higher volume of air through.

I honestly want to talk shop just as much as everyone else. It's hard to sit back, when someone is trying to stomp on something that you have put in a great deal of time, money, and self into. There are these types of personalities no matter what field your in. There the catalyst for a lot of the great achievements in this world. If no one challenged others theories, & or conquests. Our advances in things like computers, or medicine, wouldn't be as advanced as they are today. It's because of : Newer, Better, Bigger, and behind all those things lies challenges set out to be challenged.

Was this for my post or hobbyman? I hope I didn't come across as trying to stomp. I wasn't, just trying understand more of what is being done and what can be done. Whether things work or not, its the doing that matters and finding out more from it.

Then again now that i re-read your post it isn't sounding pissed, more 'hey let it come, just makes me wanna design more just to prove it"

cool

In a round about sort of way. More like lets just do what this forum was intended for. Lets share ideas, tricks, stories and enjoy the things that brought all of us together, Our Cars! But you are correct about not being pissed. No I'm not pissed. My motivation for build, or designing these intakes, is not based on being challenged. They came from me wanted something that didn't exist. I wanted them so bad and having done simple intakes for Chevy trucks and applications of that caliber years prior. I thought "hey I can come up with something for it." While doing it, I thought of all the other owners would probably want something like this as well. I know without a doubt, if I would be drilled as I am, I would of just kept my mouth shut from the start. If I just showed up with it, as a finished product, I know it would be a matter of taking orders. It wasn't about that for me. I wanted to share my results, findings, concepts, requests etc...... with all of you, and you can share in the build. However it didn't move quickly enough and I think people turned bitter. I know I have been guilty of the same things in the past, but maybe its a long the lines of, " If I can't have it, I'm going to try to kill anyone else's chance to have it too." That's what it seemed like to me, I tried to keep people informed, And I know I made a million promises and I did everything in my power to try to make them all happen for everyone. I'm the only guy doing it though. I did all by myself , no help and no real support. I got support from people who wanted it. I got all sorts of positive feed back. But It faded pretty quick, and took a turn in a different direction. I found myself working really hard and apologizing for not being able to move fast enough for all of you guys. I didn't even think about it for me anymore. I was so worried that I would **** you all off if I couldn't get things done, when I said that I would. I did it way to long. I have jumped through every hoop I was asked to jump through, never realizing it was all a bunch of sh*t, and all I need to know...for ME is I know what it does, I know how unbelievable it works and I don't ever need to try to prove that to anyone. If you are skeptical, try it, what do you have to loose, you think it is pointless, you have 15 days to send it back, in new condition. I understand it will be used however, I can always use extra tubing for other projects that has nothing to do with forum. I'm not directing anything at you specifically Christo76. I'm saying this in general, this was an effort for the team, done by one person. So in this case, there was an "I" in team. It's really easy to jump on one, when I have to take on all of you. If I had all the finger pointers working a long side of me, it would have been finished 6 months ago. However, the only hands I had were my own and the one's holding them out looking for something from me.

That's were I'm coming from.

So this is addressed to all it may apply to. If in fact you are seriously interested in the System that I (ASK Racing Concepts & Designs) have designed and manufactured, you can find out more, and I will talk to you about anything. Whether it be how much, how big or even just helpful hints for your own projects. I will gladly take time to help you. Send me an Email or a PM. I will no longer do open discussions about, what it is and what can it do. I most sincerely apologize to any and all who are new and old who just simply had questions. It's more because of people's opinions, they have no base to form facts about a system, only one other person besides myself, actually has his own results that he could base an actual opinion about what it can do. He's the only person that can actually say something about it. The sad thing about that is, the reason of why he's not talking a whole hell of a lot on the subject. In my opinion, as long as I have known the guy, which is close to six and a half years now. He has never once given me credit on anything I have ever done. He will never give me the same respect I give him when he does something New and Improved. I'm younger and I couldn't possibly know more then he, on a subject. I never really got a thank you for giving him a system. I got sh*t while I was installing it for him until 2:00 am because of the reasons explained above.
In the words of "Forrest Gump" " That's all I have to say about that."
