But some would argue it was the merger that has hurt Merc sales b/c of the association with the "less than stellar" past of Chrysler and Dodge. So they would say that Chrysler may be keeping DCX afloat now, but Merc wouldn't be losing money if it didn't merge with Chrysler and Dodge.

 

That's actually the reasons why Merc merges with Chrysler...they're going down towards bankruptcy!

 

That argument does not hold water and is just an unfounded excuse for those that offer that point of view.. Mercedes has had quality issues for most of the 1990's and they have not been making smart decisions in other areas. Read these other articles. Chrysler has nothing to do with their problems and as mention above... Chrysler is keeping Mercedes afloat.
