Default New Exhaust?

I am looking to get an exhaust/muffler for my car. I can't stand how quiet it is stock. I am looking at the borla cat back right now. Any suggestions?

do a search; some think the borla sounds great; others complain its not much different than stock. magnaflow also makes one; i heard its louder but a rougher sound; the borla is alot smoother compared to magnaflow --

Thumbs up Re: New Exhaust?

I just ordered the Magnaflow for my car (part # 14220) and it will be here in 7-10 working days. I've been told it has more "growl" than the Borla, so I guess its what your personal tastes are. Also, this muffler is SS and I'll be using my stock tips since they look so good on the car!

How much did you pay, and where did you purchase the magnaflow? Its just the muffler, and not a cat-back system like the borla?

Aero Blue....is there any way you can scan or take a photo of the dyno they have with the Mustang on the Magnaflow? I forgot to take a photo from the Magnaflow box and I think it can be helpful in this forum how it adds up 20 HP or 10% on the Mustang. As you can see from our stock muffler, it is pretty much restricted with all those loops (same as the Borla) and I can't see why we can't get an HP increase with the direct flow technology from Magnaflow.

I'm not sure if I'm understanding you, but you wanna a pic of the dyno? If not, what do you mean, I'm a bit confused, sorry. Once I get the muffler installed, I'll post some pics because I'll shot the entire installation. BTW, how do you post pics?

I Paid 99.43 for the muffler from www.a-1parts.com after tax and shipping it came out to 112.10 and that's leaps and bounds below the 700ish i would have paid for the Borla. It is just a muffler, not a catback like the borla, and you will have to have a local muffler shop install it for you because the magnaflows are a center inlet design and the current MB muffler you have on there is a right side inlet design. i paid 60 dollars at a local muffler shop and they installed the new muffler, installed the old stainless steel tips and gave me a lifetime warranty. The muffler part number from magnaflow is 14220 and its one of their stainless steel designs. I highly recommend it, but i would really like to hear the borla both inside and outside the car to make a fair judgment. but the way i figure it, i saved 500 dollars and that's enough money to chip the car and get even more performance. good luck with whatever you decide to do!

Could somebody please post videos or sound files of any of the aftermarket exhaust systems? Thanks.

Aero Blue I was talking about the dyno printed in the Magnaflow box. If you can take a picture of it or scan it then post it in this forum. It means don't throw your box away because it has the info on it. thanks.

To post a pic click Go Advance in the reply section and then go down to Manage Attachments then click Browse to get the photo from your folder or desktop.

I will save the box, take a pic of everything on it as well as the cars exhaust install. I should get the muffler sometime next week and if everything goes right, install the muffler that weekend or early the following week.

So I got the #14220 and I took it to Merlin and they said they can't do it, because the current muffler on the crossfire has an offset inlet. I'm pissed, either I got the wrong thing or they are just lazy and didn't feel like doing it. The Merlin man said that it would be virtually impossible to bend the pipe to fit into the magnaflow center inlet. Please someone let me know what is going on here. Oh yeah it also looks like the magnaflow muffler is longer than the stock one, is this the way it should be?

the magnaflow is just a universal muffler that's welded in place? i thought it was a bolt-on catback.

so why cant we buy a BORLA universal muffler and accomplish the same thing?

i checked out magnaflow's website and listened to some of their sound files. can anyone with a magnaflow compare the exhaust to any of the ones listed there?

i did like the E46 M3 and Dodge Magnum (V6), and even the '05 Mustang V6, but not the A4 Quattro or the Mazda 6 --

Jason, you're in the wrong place and don't let those dumb guys install it in your Crossfire. It didn't take 20 minutes for my redneck men here in East Texas to install it on my Crossfire. At first they are hesitant thinking it might give the car a bad sound like a ricer bumblebee but was surprised that it didn't sound bad at all!

We used to have a sound file before...that was before the site was changed to this one. That's what made me decide on the Magnaflow and I didn't regret it.

Here's a few pics of the Magnaflow install.

I got mine a little while back and think it's ok. I think I'm going to add a Cherry Bomb to it to take it down a notch. But everyone says they can hear me coming.

anyone that ever says something can't be done is a naysayer. if there's a will there's a way.

That is so very true. If you can believe in yourself, and have the drive for something. There is nothing that you can't achieve. There maybe a few bumps along the way, but it is amazing how quickly you can get up and brush yourself off, once you start seeing the results of your efforts.
