Default Wheel Spacers

My Friend Just Pick Up An Xfire And He Wanted To Add Some Wheel Spacers, But He Is Not Sure To Go With 10mm Or 12mm. I Did Not Want To Give Him Advice Because I Was Not Sure.

So Any Advice Would Help! Thanks.

After dithering for months, I decided to install a set of H&R spacers as detailed above. They do actually improve the handling of the car (much to my amazement) - less "skittering" at speed, smoother ride, corners "on rails". Additionally, I believe, the appearance of an already great little car is helped significantly by moving the faces of the tires/wheels out more flush with the fender lips. This has not led to more "splash" on the body-work, so far. One last thing... the H&R spacers are gorgeously machined (not that they will be seen, but still important IMO)!

Another "must have" for the CF nut! Thanks Andrew and Cyril!

I also installed the spacers but decided to go with 15 and 20 as i feel it was barely discernable otherwise.

The price was about $120 plus shipping for 4 hub-centric spacers with bolts from:

STEVE D MCNEIL
Company: ACCESSORIES PLUS
City: MURRIETA
State: CA
Country: United States
Phone: (909) 947-5115

The fit is beautiful and the ride is smooth...handling is really improved.

I called this place and they don't carry the studs. They said, that it would cost $55 each = $220 for all 4 without studs. How did you get that price?

Call The Tire Rack, they'll hook you up. They have the bolt lengths required for each spacer width. Then it will be a no brainer... I would suggest 15mm for the rear with a 265 tire, 20mm spacer for a 255 tire...

I asked for Crossfire spacers and '05 Tiburon spacers. They told me they are the same price. I will check out Tire Rack that seems to be the best place to get stuff. Thanks.

HDDP,

Would you know if the 20mm spacers would work (look right) w/ 245 rear tire?

Thanks

They'll look fine, but how 'bout this. A 15mm spacer and 255 tire. The tire will fit the OEM wheel fine and now you have a bit wider stance from the spacer and more rubber on the road. That's what I did when I had my OEM wheels on... Plus, (call me neurotic) big spacers on a sports car make me nervous, even if they're hub-centric, it's not the spacer per se' it's the much longer bolts that tend to fail under high loads. Which you'll never achieve on a street car, so they're fine if you want to go that way...

Well I've replaced my stock wheels with a 18" front & 20" rear combo (Detata Double-D (Black) a very nice wheel for the car). See gallery for pic. The fronts are fine but the rear has that recessed look and I want to line it up with the wheel well. I saw a previous post from Andrew which listed the following:

2003 m/b slk

bolt pattern: 5/112

center bore: 66.5

bolt

thread type: 12x1.5

width: 12mm

part number: 2455665

list price: $95. pair (less bolts)

So what's better, going with the 10mm (per side) or the 12mm?

Since I have never seen the clearance with 20" wheels, I really can't answer that question, sorry.

I've got a pic in my gallery but it does not show all the angles...I'll post more pics tonight of the clearance from different angles then maybe you could shed some light. Thanks

I looked at your gallery. I don't think it's about wheel spacers at all, you have such low profile tires that it increases the gap in the wheel wells. I would drop the car by what appears to be about 2", or get larger sidewall tires to fill the gap. IMO...

My opinion doesn't count on this one, because we're into completely different reasons for modifying the car...
