Talking FUN FACTOR is the Xfire fun to drive!!!?

Just got the August, R&T issue and the cover says 12 cars guaranteed to give you smiles!

They have 2 Porsches = $50k+ and $79k+
Corvette $45k+ "I still haven't seen one at that price"!
Mini S $21k I haven't seen one under 3k+ msrp
SRT4 suggest $5-7k in upgrades!
Scion To go to K-mart?
BMW M3 $48k+
Viper $81k+
MBenz E55 wagon $75k+ Why to drive the kids to daycare?
GT Mustang OK
Lotoy, if your a midget and have kidney insurance! fun yes. everyday no.

I'm glad they left the Crossfire off because in a year or two we'll all still be SMILING!!! For less $.

You must absolutely live an ecstatic life, Danny Boy...the Crossfire doesn't seem to make ANYBODY's list as the best of ANYTHING...oh yeah, and you must absolutely be elated that the car you bought a year or so ago, can now be bought new for thousand's less than you paid!

Wish I was you...

LOL, haters.

I paid 23K and I can't think of a car at that price I'd rather own. Its fun to drive, looks good and has tons of features.

Its OK if you don't think the Xfire matches to any of those cars. But I think people like to bag on it because of the resale value.

I don't drive resale value, I drive a car. Anyway, no biggie, just like what you like.

When I bought my Crossfire I was happy for the price I paid. Because I've had so much fun with it making 15k miles for that year 2004! There is something special about the car which I never experienced with my other cars.

With my 911 Porsche...of course with the price I paid for it it's expected to tell others that hey that's an expensive and fast car! There's no need to upgrade and that's where I lost the fun of it. My new '05 Mustang GT...yes it's my daily beater car and after driving it for a week it feels just a regular car with more kick on it. Haven't heard anybody praising me for my Mustang GT yet even if it's a Roush edition.

Cars are made to fit your lifestyle and if you bought it to impress others, of course, you won't be happy with it for long because it is not yours!

It's only in this forum that I hear so much bashing of the Crossfire but I never heard it from the people I met everyday! In fact, they want me to drive it everyday because they wanna see it everyday! It's a car that brings inspiration to the owners and to the admirers of the car.

Resale value...it's for people who can't make up their minds and are not financially matured. If you are after the resale value, buy a car one year after it is being launched because what you are buying is the resale value!

I have to agree with Dan... I know quite a few people who own Loytoy's and toys are what they are. I admit that they are lots of fun and do look great (if you can actually get into one of them) but they are not a car anyone could or would use every day. All Loytoy owners (at least those in the UK) seem to have at least two cars. Another car for any journey that is more than a few miles or if the weather looks even a bit dodgy. They seem to only use the toy on a sunny day or for a very very short journeys/posing (usually on their own - it is a bit cramped for two). I even know one bloke who cannot even get into his toy with the roof down, he just gets wet when it rains (good investment -- he looks so so stupid!).

Note ... I do like the Latoy (even if I can't get into one - I am more that 5 foot tall). However, the xf is a completely different genre of car. The xf is in no way a toy. I personally use my xf as my primary vehicle amassing around 2000 comfortable miles a month... that kind of mileage would be hell in a toy.

btw ... I thought this was a crossfire forum...

I find mine to be a blast to drive everyday or just on weekends. It is a good all around car that gets lots of looks for the styling. Decent on gas and plenty fast enough, handles better than my 85' vette did too.
I looked at a ton of used vettes, before I bought the crossfire. I like this better for the money. You know what they say: to each there own.

You too, huh? I looked at a bunch of C4 and (early) C5 Corvettes. Sure, that small block V8 is pure magic, and yes, they offer near supercar performance with a 6-speed manual. But the part I couldn't get past is that they all seem to be built like junk. GM parts bin interiors, wide panel gaps, paint quality not befitting a premium car. When I mentioned this to a friend, he said "sure...but it's a $40K car that offers performance of cars costing twice as much. Would you rather have them put the money into the interior, or under the hood?" Valid point. But, I was willing to sacrifice some performance for a sports car that shines in more than just one area. And, buying a Crossfire allowed that sports car to be new!

Yeah and you don't see the Crossfires all over the place like Vettes! I always felt like I was getting into a two seat Camaro.

haha, you are kidding right? I didn't know they had toyota 4 bangers. IMO that car sounds crappy when at high revs. I was in a McDonalds the other day with my S2 and a guy in one of those started revving at me. Sounded like a blender.

Which power plant does it have exactly?

Aside from the Esprit V8, Lotus cars almost never had an exceptional power plant. In fact, they usually used somebody else's workaday four banger, most often something leftover from Rover or Ford of Europe. What has always made a Lotus special is its power to weight ratio and excellent handling, driven in large part by an emphasis on keeping the curb weight to an absolute minimum. This tradition continues today, and aside from that aforementioned V8 that they bolted into the thirty year old Esprit just a handful of years ago to keep the car young, that Toyota four banger might just be one of the better engines ever bolted into a Lotus. And, in pure Lotus tradition, that Elise posts unbelievable numbers for so modest an engine.

^^^for sure, but you could put any power plant in there and it would go like heck. It weighs nothing.

the E55 wagon is the possible replacement for my wifes X5 4.4 sport. we need room for the dog...no kids.

running low 12's in the 1/4...0-60 in the low 4's. i like it...and so does she.

of course...i would remove all of the badges...for the sleeper wagon look.

LOL Andrew, you're paid in FULL!

By the way Andrew, thank you again for helping me with the suspension. The car looks so mean now that its hard to drive through traffic. I'm not kidding, everyone in traffic is staring at me, its a little uncomfortable. heh.
