I think I have a bad A/C compressor. I put 12v to the number 3 pin on the clip inside the wire harness box by the battery and test the A/C compressor clip where it plugs into the A/C and it got 12v then when I turn the A/C on in the car no volts... I also put 12v to the number 3 pin with the wire clip put into the A/C and the clutch didn't engage. I've been trying to read through post on here but I'm not finding my exact issue I don't think. Is there something at the climate control that would stop the A/C from getting the voltage? Thanks guys

 

You may have bad wiring or a bad heater control module ( located with the ***** on the center console )
It is responsible for providing the 12v needed to drive the clutch : ( pin 20 )

 

Does the wire go from the number 3 pin to the heater control module to the AC compressor? The temp dial will work if I turn it to red/hot. Thank you

 

If I understand your post correctly you have provided the A/C clutch with 12v by connecting from the C106 connector inside the large plastic box that hold the RCM, PCM and the BCM. That small clip on the front wall of the large plastic box feeds directly to the A/C clutch, as I understand your post after directly feeding the clutch power it did not engage. Your clutch and or compressor is bad. You have stated you had power at both ends of the wiring between the C106 connector and the clutch connector. When you apply power through the C106 connector to the clutch it will engage; Double check that procedure and if you are certain the clutch did not engage, you have found your problem. You can see the clutch movement and possible hear it engage. Do that testing with the engine turned off.
The input to the C106 connector comes from the A/C control as ala_Xfire shows in his post.
You can easily run 12volts DC through the C106 connector when it is disconnected by simply using a wire directly from the positive post of the battery to the C106 connector. I have tested my A/C clutch using that method and the clutch did engage with the 12v that I supplied.

 

Thank you Zip. I'll will double le check but yes that is what happened I put power to the number 3 pin it had power then plugged it in to the compressor and added power and nothing. What confused me is when I turned the AC controls on it give it power normally, I had no power to the AC plug. Thank you both for taking the time to help!

 

I'm not getting any power at the number 3 pin with car on. Can anyone tell me what fuse maybe supplies that pin?

 

So I took the climate control head out and connected the power pin to the number 20 compressor pin and can get 12v to the 106 clip but cant get 12v normally with the AC button. I also get continuity between the 106 clip number 3 and ground... its starting to lean towards paying a professional honestly. I think the AC button for some reason isn't allowing power to the 106 clip and the grounding thing is confusing. I know AC current but not familiar with DC.

 

Radiator fan also does not turn on when AC button is on and inside fan is on.

 

I feel your pain, mine will work just fine and then it quits, no fan then after a while it starts up again.It started acting up last year but I hardly drove it but it did it again once this year. I am going to have to look at it sometime though.

 

yea. I think it's the AC control module and compressor but I don't want to spend a bunch of money on a wild goose chase. I'll just pay the professionals to save me the trouble haha

 

Sounds like you were doing a great job on your own, way better than I could. It is not expensive to buy a used climate control module and start from there.
