Shift Knob
i original purchase a momo ****...but i didn't care for the added 1" in height. and i didn't want to hack my car...especially if i wanted to put the stock **** back on at resale.
so...i then decided to purchase an 04' m/b slk automatic black leather shift ****. this **** is classy and looks as if it belong there imo. it also, fit as the crossfire stock **** does...height and all.
m/b part # A 170 267 10 10 9C05 (called a: handle)

The stock shift **** continues the XFire design theme that has the center ridge on the hood, a slight ridge on the radio/control cluster face and a ridge on the headliner. It is well thought out.
I was really impressed when I finally noticed how the theme comes together. I can't think of another car where the designer paid that much attention to detail.

That odd shape you mention is the design theme being carried through the interior of the car.
If you don't like the ****, change it out. I doubt if any passenger will ever note that your new **** doesn't fit with the design theme for the car. Only you will know for sure. :-)

One thing I've noticed about the stock **** is, that every woman that sits in the car seems to like the way it feels when they handle it. And that's all I'm going to say about it.

I guess you don't read sig's since mine has been changed a week after I got the car...Since the color of the new ***** leather and thread work is quite close to what is found on the stock steering wheel...I would say my aftermarket **** looks more in "theme" with the rest of the car then the stock one did...
