Default Cruise In? About Cars or people?

In my opinion a "Cruise In" is about people who love cars, not the cars themselves. However I learned yesterday that not everyone feels the same.
Here in town we have a Ford/Mazda Dealership that holds a Cruise In every other weekend during the summer. We've been to a few (before Our Xfire) and the dealer never complained when we parked our '93 Cutlass on the lot to look at the other cars and visit. There were cars of all types and year models there.

However, Yesterday I drove onto Their lot just to inquire about the date of the next Cruise In. They would Not answer me about a date, I was told and I quote "Cruise Ins are for old cars, and what You have there is just another dime a dozen car." Imagine a comment like that from a man who sell Mustangs, THE all time king of Dime A Dozen! Anyway, after half of the customers gathered around to drool on the Xfire, I was asked to leave their lot.

Just thought some of you might get a kick out of this.

Not to slight anyone here that my be a cars salesman but I went to three dealerships over the course of a year to finally get my Crossfire. 3 of 4 sales reps knew little about the Crossfire. The salesman who finally sold me was a young kid who just started selling, he at least wanted to make a deal and if I had a question he got me an answer. My point is most car sales people don't know their a__ from a hole in the ground. One salesman told me I probably know more about the car than he does. That's a great way to greet a prospective buyer. I've seen 4 Crossfires in my area since I got mine in July, I've seen a ton of new Mustangs, who do you think gets the looks? Glad they came to their senses.

Basically the very same thing happened to me last week. I went to a restaurant called, Quaker Steak & Lube (the first one was built in Sharon PA at an old gas station and it's full of cars, motorcycles, anything automotive related). Well now they've franchised and they're sprouting up all over. (still full of cars hanging from the ceilings and all) Every Monday night they have a cruise in at the one just outside Cleveland and it draws alot of cars,Old & New. When I started to pull into the parking lot I was stopped by a young man who informed they were having a "car" show and that I was welcome to park across the street. This is while I'm looking at 6 new vettes, a new Ford GT, 2 new Mustangs, and a new Charger. I informed him that yes this is a car show, and promised him mine did qualify as a car. I also went out on a limb and told him mine would be the only XF there. He reluctantly let me in. You all own XFs, so you know the rest of the story.

My wife is a member of the UK PT Cruisers Club. They are a great bunch who welcome everyone, and they allowed XFs to join them in their Annual get together at their Picnic in the Park. The UK Viper club are also welcome at the event and it is great to see so many different people who all care madly about their cars.

I was lucky enough to be invited to a MBenz meet last year and the people there were great. No pretentions at all.

A couple of weeks ago I witnessed a Mercedes Benz 190 meet with about 7 cars, a VW Polo meet with around 50 cars, and a Ford Granada meet with about 30 cars and 5 hearses.

Meets/Cruises should be about both cars and people. Life is too short. If someone doesn't want you are their cruise, find another bunch who will be glad to have you along.
