stryfox,

You can see the strut i'm talking about on the right side of the glove box door when you open it. In the base coupe it doesn't have it.

As for someone mentioning the amp on the base, I know mine never had one. It only had 4 wimpy speakers that i don't think totaled 80 watts of power.

There were also some changes on the limited cars between '04 and '05.

The '04 limited had a glossy silver interior finish, Now all '05 limited and SRT6's have the matte silver interior finish just like in the base.

The '04 limited had the auto-dimming interior rearview mirror, Now all '05 limited and SRT6's DO NOT.

yeah when we went to install the factory infinity speakers and the mtx 12's they found the system was already amped and had to spend three damn days wiring EVERYTHING together - i don't have that great of an understanding of sound systems but i guess it really sux as* for them - oh well.

The exhaust tips on my '05 base are stainless, not polished. But hey, stainless looks great too!

yeah the base is the one with the matte finish on the exhaust pipes, the limited and SRT6 have the polished tail pipes.

...I do wish that DaimlerChrysler had not removed the silver finish from the side strakes, door handles, and windshield surround on the base coupe/roadster. Then again, black is a "pure contrast" color, and reflections on the car easily bring out these details. Again, I can't complain too much since Chrysler didn't take out the fundamentals: 6-speed, 3.2L V6, great wheel and tire package, ESP, ABS, etc. They could have made the car a lot more "base" in the performance department by borrowing from the bottom feeder SLK even more. I don't know about you, but a 2.3L "Kompressor" (supercharged I4) just would not cut it in this car.

Just as a correction...there were base models built in other colors than Black Clearcoat and they also made them in automatic transmissions. At my work, we have an enterprise rental office that has a blaze red base model in their fleet with an automatic transmission.

~ see link for "special edition" crossfire roadster... constructed from a base crossfire... but not categorized as a base version.

Hmm... that's something i never knew about. So that means that the car at my work is an '06? I've never seen an '06 in the states until now. I like the wheels on the special edition model. Thanks for the info andrew.

These were not new for '06. They were out as '05 models. Take a look at the VIN on it to see if it is an '06.

Those were '05's. This was I guess an attempt at trying to increase sales of the car (not any particular model but just sales of the car itself). The rims are indeed from the SRT-6 with a different finish which IMO look far better than the all silver finish on the SRT6 rim.

Also I just noticed something. My '05 limited sits higher off the ground than the '04. I remember when i got the '05 the salesman telling me that the difference in the '05 limited to the '04 limited was no inner dimming mirror, no gloss inner finish on trim (matte instead) and the suspension was tweaked a bit for an improved ride. I didn't believe him on the suspension part but now looking carefully at both cars side by side the '04 sits lower in the front and back than my '05 by almost an inch (and NO the '04 doesn't have worn springs nor shocks). Anyone else notice this ?

Post #10 is the most complete, However a few minor items are missing:
No floor mats in base coupe
510 Amps battery in base coupe (700 Amps in LTD)
No Premium insulation group in base coupe.

I think thats about it...

When I bought my '05 Base coupe last month the dealer had 3 2006 roadsters sitting on the lot. The salesman had said they bought them directly from DC and that very few 2006s were made. Now I know not many '06 models were made but I am not sure I would believe what the salesman says.

I thought they skipped 2006 due to an overstock of the 2005 models? With the possibility of more in 2007?

I am about to take delivery of a Crossfire here in Australia.
My understanding is that we can only get a Crossfire Coupe or Roadster in what sounds like your Limited specifications. Of course the SRT can be ordered in either car.

Same applies for 300C.
You either get a 6 cyl or V8, sunroof or no sunroof. Once again SRT can be ordered.
Options seem to be thin on the ground around here.
