Smile Car crazy, eccentric or what?!

I remember reading a post from someone here about "are you one of the following" and it went on to speak about parking far away, etc. Well check this out, I went to work yesterday (I work afternoons 3:30 till midnight) and the weatherman didn't say a thing about rain till this morning, well, when I went to my car it had rained and was still raining. I was shocked as if I think its going to rain, I will not take it out and just drive the beater. So about an hour I ago I washed the car, no biggie right, but its raining, gray and about 48 degrees. I got some hot water out of the tub, washed the car, used my Mr. Clean auto-dry and stuck it in the garage. Personally, I don't see anything wrong with this, but I bet my neighbors do! Please share you similar story, I bet there's alot of us out there, who knows, maybe we'll pick up a tip from one another!

Yes, you're not weird. Just want to keep your cool car nice longer! We have Hot and cold running water in our attached garage and had the pitch of the floor steep enough so we can wash the cars in the garage when it's crappy outside, or even if it's too sunny where the water dries too fast to wipe it dry. I guess this may just be one of the downfalls of living in Michigan where it's crummy weather out more than it's nice. But then there wouldn't be a place in the world for beaters, if we didn't care about the cool cars!!!

Damn, you must have a pretty big garage to be able to wash your car in there! Now thats CAR CRAZY! Not sure how many more coats of wax the car is going to get in the next 6 weeks, but I'm really lookin' forward to trying the Klasse on my car as I love the metal flake in this paint! Right now I'm averaging (3) coats a month, roughly...ECCENTRIC AND LOVING IT!

I check the weather reports and if there is rain in the forecast, the car can't go out and play...

That's how I am, but the weather guy lied, off with his head!...J/K! Do you guys use your Cali car duster or equivalent everytime you take out the car and get into all the creases in the hood because you can see dust there? Like I said...and darn proud of it too!

The one thing that makes me "hyper" is the bugs on the front. When I drive the car in the summer months and come home I immediately get my special cleaner and get those bugs off immediately...my girlfriend thinks I am nuts but has gotten used to it. She will say now "I will wait for you inside until you get the bugs off since I know that is the FIRST thing you are going to do" ...she knows me so well....haha.

Thumbs up Re: Car crazy, eccentric or what?!

I ALWAYS get the bugs off the front of my car in the summer, it looks like hell and is alot easier than leaving them on there and letting them get embedded! Thanks for bringing up another thing WE ALL do, your not alone out there! Another thing I do is use a duster for furniture thats kinda long to get inside the wheels, this way the car looks "brand new" all the time. Its only a little bit extra effort, but the results are worth it. This thing has a long handle so you can go all the way in there, just spray a little wheel cleaner in there, let it sit and your all set. You can even use a multi-purpose degreaser (purple power or simple green) in there as well.

...I wipe mine down every weekend, before putting it back underneath a car cover. Crazy about the car? Guilty as charged...

i am a bug and clean windshield freak. the bugs look like crap on a white bumper. my car can be semi dirty but my windshield is nearly always spotless.

the bottom line is...i have issues. my wife can validate that.

i am quite the annoying perfectionist.

It rained one time when it shouldn't have, weather man said no rain, getting my M3 all dirty after I just spent 2 hours washing it.

Long story short, the weather man is the guy in my avatar.

All weather men lie. I purchased the crossfire with the intent to drive it on bad weather days. Bad weather here = a few inches of rain. I have several other cars that I try to only get wet with a hose. Now I have always hand washed my cars, maintaining a 30+ year old black car before handing the key to my daughter, vowed to never get another black car, thus the Alabaster Crossfire. Boy white gets dirty fast, and the crossfire is no easy clean, think I will carpool with the wife if it rains this year. Now I have four cars that I don't want to drive in the rain.

Andrew, try using your car wax on the windshield as it makes cleaning even easier!

Hey RabidRaider, kill two birds with one stone, order it from Griots and then you'll be on their mailing list. Once you get their catalog, you'll be hooked! BTW, they duster doesn't leave all that mess like the Cali ones does and costs the same.

i have been using "aquapel" glass treatment. this product puts "rain x" to shame. the longevity of rain x is very poor by comparison. aquapel easily lasts a true 2 - 3 months. $9.95 i love this stuff.

aero blue...trust me...give it a try.

here is a link and additional info...

I'm right there with you. I wash my car if its above 35 degrees. Even if the weather is bad in the winter I'll wash it outside and roll it in the garage which is semi heated to dry it off. I'm famous for waxing the car when it snowing outside, my favorite snowy day thing to do. Yesterday we had bad weather here storms, high wind, threat of hail, you know "The end of the World" type weather. When I got up my wife said to me "I guess I'm taking you to work today, there's no way you'll be driving that car to work". So my car had a day off yesterday.

Yeah, I'm car crazy and proud of it.

Pat

I'm using obrello glass treatment. Lasts up to 10 month they say, heard from others that it's true and even 12 month is no problem. Top product. Costs a little more but lasts longer and is worth every cent. Above 80 km/h (50 mph) I don't use the wiper. Cleaning the windshield is very easy.
Don't know if it's available in US. Here's a UK page I've found.
