The Wave
Here's a question for the forum: When you see another Crossfire on the road do you give the driver a wave for flick of the headlights just to say hi? Those of us who ride on two wheels do it all the time but that doesn't seem to be the case with cars...

Re: The Wave
When I owned my Corvettes, other owners would always wave. What I have found with the Crossfire is that other owners refuse to acknowledge that you even exist. A recent trip to Daytona was proof enough when I was sitting at a stop light beside another Crossfire and I did everything but knock on her window without so much as an acknowledgement (this actually happened twice with two different Crossfires). I've only had one other owner wave and he was from SC cruising down I95 in Georgia. Guess we are an elite bunch that are above that sort of thing! I always thought it was one of the cool things about owning a 'Vette but it doesn't work with the Crossfire.

Re: The Wave
I voted "Yes I would" to the poll but the correct answer would be "Yes I would if I saw another Crossfire on the road".
I know there are 8 or 9 on the Gold Coast but I have only seen them parked up. I have never seen one being driven on the road to test "The Wave".
Regards
Ausfire.

Re: The Wave
they don't wave around here, so I tinted my windows now I don't have to deal with it. In the british sports car world proper etiquette is something like this, MG's and MGB's wave to everyone.
triumphs/sunbeams only wave to each other, jags never wave, midgets/sprites should only wave when waved to.

Re: The Wave
I have only come across about 3 other XF's. We were so dumbfounded to see another one, I think we went into shock. We passed each other before we could realize "HEY" another Crossfire!
One exception. A graphite gray XF was next to me going the same direction for several blocks. She and I waved to each other and then gave big smiles. We were so surprised to view each other but we had time during those several blocks, we took advantage and practically "talked" to each other LOL.
Haven't seen her since even though I go the same way every day...at approximately the same time. Just a fluke, I guess.
The funny thing is; today, I took my Miata out for a spin. What did I see at the light? An Aero Blue XF with a new dealer plate. Of all times to see one, I was not in my own XF...go figure.

Re: The Wave
I've never passed another oncoming Xfire, so I've never waved. I wouldn't initiate a wave, but I'd wave back if waved at. Always thought it was kind of cheesy when car owners would wave. I heard Jeep Wrangler drivers do it too.
But on my motorcycle, I wave at everyone else on a bike, nothing to do with what kind. I dunno.

Re: The Wave
Well when I had the '79 Corvette there was definitely a wave and a response. Much later came the PT Cruiser. The wave seemed to work there too, early on. Then it seemed everybody and there grandmother had a PT and the wave backs stopped. I have waved at the few other Crossfire owners I've passed on the road but have yet to get a wave back. The few I've seen (I've only seen 9 around here since July when I got mine) have been less then well maintained. I guess its just transportation to some people. I don't get that. You buy a nice car and then you don't wash it? Makes no sense to me.
