Smile I just got my 2005 Base coupe.

I just picked up my 2005 base coupe. Yeah!!! I took it on the highway and noticed some serious wind noise with windows shut. Is this norm for XF? Also, I just can't get used to this shift ****. Any suggestions that is easy and looks/works great? Thanks.

Serious congrats on your new black beauty...the wind noise is a common complaint. Someone here suggests getting some weather strip from AutoZone and place it behind the rubber door gasket. I also believe you can get the Mercedes SLK shift **** to replace the one you don't like...

Use the search feature and you will find tons of info...

I just got my new 2005 Base Coupe too just a week ago. Congratulations porterhouse. Where are you from? Maybe we got them from the same dealer :-D (although highly unlikely). I'm from Central Jersey.

Welcome to the club! I'm still working on the wind noise myself, and the shifter is something you will get used to over time. Give it a chance. It actually works pretty well. You've got yourself a fan-freakin'-tastic ride. Get out on a nice twisty back road and enjoy it!

Well. same to you. I am from Northern Jersey. However, I picked mine from Yonkers NY. Paid $19,999.99. Base Coupe with ASP tires. They threw in the winter mats and locking nuts. Me and my buddy bought the same car, same day. Regardless, I am soooo happy the way this thing drives. I welcome all your advices and tips.

All Crossfire's come with a 36 month/36k mile bumper to bumper warranty AND a 7 year/70k mile power train warranty, so you got no special deal there. Now if you meant a free extended warranty, then that's great.

Enjoy your new car!

Nice looking shift **** but reread the last sentence of the item description... "It is not recommended for use on cars with lift type reverse".

Yeah it's the extended warranty, thanks for clarifying that for me. I wasn't exactly sure what they were giving me :-D.

I brought mine in on the TSB. They changed out the weather strip on both doors. No more wind noise.

To the dealer? Did the dealer changed weather strip and it resolved the issue? That is great. I am calling my dealer for svc appt. Thank you.

Congrats and welcome!
Brought mine twice to the dealer. Got better but i'm still not satisfied. Will try to fix it myself (sometime). ;-)

Have fun with your new ride! And drive safe...

Thank you all for warm welcome to the group. I have and will gain so much knowledge about my car. Thank you. Thank you...After reading all mods you guys have done, I am going to make some changes on my car as well. I guess I'll spend all the money I saved at the dealer on aftermarket stuff. hahaha. Regarding replacement shifter (manual), I did some research on the net and found MOMO shifters with "S" designation are designed for "lift type reverse". Has anyone installed them? I found them on: http://www.ppsonline.net. I would love to see some pics how they look installed.

...I too have a black base coupe. You are going to LOVE this car. Especially when it's waxed up on a summer night. You will not like the way that your black paint shows every speck of dust, though. You may also notice that fabric on the cloth seats tend to "ball up" a little bit. But in 4,000 miles of use, there is very little that annoys me about this car.

I know you want a new ****, but try living with the stock one for a few weeks. You may have a different opinion. To me, the stock **** is nicely weighted, and it's shape is perfect for my hand.
