Talking Re: Leaving rear wing up?

Just a little humor here. Maybe I should start another thread. Slightly off topic.

Other uses for the spoiler...
  1. Crack walnuts
  2. Wring out wet bathing suits
  3. Make apple sauce
  4. Press a tie

Sorry I really do like my spoiler. I just wish I could turn it off sometimes.

I like the deploying spoiler. It also was one of the unique features of the car that drew me to buying it. I don't leave it up when I park, though, because somehow I'm afraid that someone will try to push it down and break it. Must have been in a dream or something.

Definitely a unique design that few other sports cars can claim.
As many have said, the fact that it moves / deploys is the best part. The SRT fixed spoiler detracts from the whole.
Something about kinetics - the art of mechanics in motion that does it.

My wife always is always asking me why that it deploys all the time and I keep telling her it has a mind of it's own but she doesn't believe me...

FirebaseD...Have you been drinking again?? LOL. Paint it high heat aluminum and pretend it's chrome.

Oh, that's funny. You know I have noticed the spoiler popping up prematurely sometimes. It might have something to do with being passed by a cute little Boxter.

I think I may get away with asking this in this thread. What is the normal operation of the spoiler switch ? Should it be one touch operation either up or down ? Or should you have to hold it in till the wing is fully deployed or retracted. I'm just wondering as mine seems to get stuck if you push it too hard to deploy the spoiler. I normally let the wing do its thing, but now yall have me messing with it.

Going up is one push and going down you have to hold it until you hear a beep!

its only push and hold if your standing still -- if you're cruising along > 10 mph, but < 65, you can close it with one push --

What Rob said.
Took me a while to figure that out myself. If you're moving, 1 push puts it up or down, but if you're standing, you have to hold it till it's all the way down or it goes back up.

Does it go down automatically once you hit 65?

Of course not. (Jess, I think you're just yanking my yankee) But those up and down tips are only when you're doing it manually. Every car is a little different, but the automatic mph's for mine are: up around 58 then back down around 40. If you're going 65, it won't stay down unless you've altered something, ie. removed the fuse. Then I've seen posted (cause I don't drive my car that fast) that over 80 there's an alarm that goes off if the wing isn't deploying.

By the way...this spoiler generates 300 newtons of down force...but who cares *gg*.

maybe a typo? it automatically goes UP at 65, and you cannot put it down manually until you slow down below 60 or 65.

I only deploy mine at highway speeds when it does it automatically. I love the feature and actually think it looks good and technical.

I HATE the wing on the SRT and partially the reason I didn't consider it, as well as the front bumper with those vents. It just made the car look "blocky" and that is a shame considering the beautiful shape.

What are you talking about, what speed? What is the wind speed and direction, you can not make a single statement such as you did with out at least on other variable such as speed.

300 newtons = approx 65 lbs at 80 to 90 mph... I think.
