Default Oil sensor Issue??

I have the red 2005 XFi coupe.

Had to drop by dealer today because computer suddenly indicated
oil was "HI". I know this wasn't so because my mechanic just
changed the oil and filter and we checked the oil level. Now he says
we have to change the sensor for a new one because another
customer had the same intermittent problem. He changed out the
sensor and that resolved it. Has anyone else had this problem?

How did he determine it was the sensor? Did the PCM show a fault code? This happened to me once but the "hi" reading was because the mechanic dumped in all 9 quarts of oil he was given instead of just 8.5.

Same thing happened in my '05 Roadster Limited. Dealer replaced sensor and 8 quarts of oil.
