Followed my GPS directions very closely but there were a lot of signs to keep you in route to.

The lodge is the meeting place for all the activity.

Well just got back from spending the weekend at the "Dragon". Could not go for the rally but got away last weekend. The road conditions are wonderful, cool in the mornings, fall in full swing.

Friday, no LEO on the course, light traffic both north and south. Had some good runs but got bracketed in twice, once by Camary's and once by Harley's.

I stayed in Franklin and the drive from there to the Dragon was almost as much fun, not as tight but higher speeds. Premium gas was readily available in Franklin.

Saturday, woke up early to hit the course at daylight. One LEO at the north entrance. Traffic built up steadily.

The LEO moved to the south end of the course and caught me doing 38 on Crud's corner, he had moved from the north end. Threw some attitude my way, I figured oh well, I budgeted a ticket into my trip costs. Asked me what the speed limit was, told him 30, asked me what I was doing around the corner, told him I had no idea. Told me I was doing 38 and said he could not imagine what I was doing on the straighter parts. I told him there was no reason to speed on the straigh parts since you will just have to hammer the breaks in the corners. Well, it would of been a $200.00 fine but he let me off with a warning. Whew.

Premium gas was tight over the weekend in many of the places I drove by so fill up when you find it.

I never knew how amazing my SRT can corner when you go into tight turns. Wow.

Have fun everyone, don't speed, no reason to really, if you want to fly, go south into NC on 28, no LEO's and much higher corner entrance speeds, but be careful, almost met a camper van around one hair pin corner.

 

I would like one if you have any left....Roadster of course..msgump I will pay you at the Dragon also...if ok?

 

28 from the dragon to Franklin is a wonderful road, only spots I've seen cops is at the picnic table pull offs with in about 10 miles of the dragon. Georgia 60 is another great find heading to Suches Ga.

 

Well we all run Hwy 28 nine miles from the Dragon to the lodge we stay at and a couple more miles to the Fontana Dam.

 

For the group coming from the north from CINN. to Lexington Ky on 75 ,Just be safe out there! 75 can be kind crazy! . Susan and I will be heading down to Gatlinburg Tn this Fri up until Tue and thin over to Fontana Vlliage . Look forward to meeting everybody and seeing all of the Spring Group from last Meet, Valk you have done outstanding job keeping this going and Susan and I would to say a BIG THANK YOU ! Gary, A co-worker of mine used to run the Dragon all the time with his motorcycle. He just bought a new Mini and was thinking of doing the Dragon with it. He asked if we wouldn't mind if he joined us. I said it was a public roadway as far as I knew! I said we could use a good "pace car" to get us started

Anyway, what are your thoughts? After all, we had "others" with us at Woodward.

Yeah, but at least the "others" we had with us at Woodward, only had 2 seats.

I do believe that Saturdays final run by all of us on the Dragon last fall, was done so following a new Honda SI.
So having a Mini pace us should be interesting.

 

Art has been called worse than just "others"...believe me....now the mini has to have 15K of mods done to it to qualify...LOL....

 

I'm not sure I like being called "The Other". You guys and gals have fun and be safe.
