2012 POST Woodward GTG
Most know that a small group of us travel up into Michigan after Woodward to explore the lake shores. This year, as last year, was a fantastic ride with a great group of people to travel with.
I am simply putting this suggestion out there for the people familar with the area. I noticed a lot of cottages/cabins, on Lake Michigan and more on Lake Heron. What about picking out an area of cottages we can rent for two or three days? Use the cottages as like a home base, if we go anywhere at all. I recall seeing a brochure on these, just for an example:
Saugatuck, Michigan Lakefront / Beachfront Cottages For Rent
If we plan to do something like this, we probably need to make reservations early.
Anyone know the date of the Dream Cruize for 2012?
Speak up with your ideas.... James

James, this is a great idea. Molly and I would be interested for sure - like you said, have a home base to travel from and just go explore...

I had a great time with the members who did come though, and a good time was had by all.
We had a wedding we couldn't miss on the Saturday Woodward took place.
Geeesh, I miss one Woodward in 15 years, and all HeII breaks loose.
I've never done Woodward in anything but a two seater (AMX, Viper, Crossfire) and I've never had any problems parking next to a "family" sedan...aka Impalas.

Woodward is a great event. But it is getting to be really big. I would be up for an afternoon or evening cruise on Woodward, forget parking and watching, not enough room for as many cars as attend. Then head to the lakes for a couple of days. Not even staying close Woodward. Visit and get out.
Ron, Jim has the parking all figured out, we have a great place and not far to walk to all the main attractions. It doesn't get any better than 13th and Woodward. You need to join us next year, you will see.
A few of us cruised in the afternoon, not too bad. Forget about getting on Woodward in the evening, you will be bored and your eyes will water from all the exhaust building in the air around you. How soon you will remember the good old days of rich exhaust fumes. With the emissions of todays cars, they are much cleaner.

James. If you are talking about parking in the the school yard with the prowlers. Been there and done that, not coming back. I will park on my own, you can't get in or out if unless you are lucky enough to park on the edges. Ron

Still interested in what you find James...my sons have a friend they went to school with at 9 mile/Woodward..so they have an ideal place to stay, but I would be interested in what you find.
Just to be clear guys, this is for AFTER Woodward. Although I am not thrilled about the idea of going back to the Courtyard. "Those guys" will come back just for spite, they had too much fun with us. James
James I agree with your AFTER IDEA..TJ mentioned he knows of a large lodge that we could rent but will have to get more details on that... not sure that we can park in the 13 mile lot next year either.
Time is getting upon us to gather some ideas for the POST Woodward GTG. If Michigan doesn't work out, Tammi and I may drive over to the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, then maybe on to Niagara Falls, just an idea to think about.

Hi James and Tammi,
Just read your posting about the cottage idea, are you still up for that? I like the idea a lot and wonder how many folks would be up for it....Saugatuck is a nice area or we could go further up north. I would like to explore around and see what I can find for a location with reasonable rents. TJ said he found a large cabin that accommodates a lot of people not sure about the details on it but will ask him. Let me know if this is still of interest to you and anyone else also. Judi
