Wink Warranty Over

well, my factory 3 yr/36,000 mile warranty has officially expired. little nervous about it. it is the 4th chrysler product i've purchased. i swore after my last one i would never own a chrysler again. i know that not all chryslers have problems but i had many. had a '98 intrepid, transmission replaced after warranty...$3,500 at my expense, '99 LHS, rack and pinion replaced after warranty...$1,500, and a hemi ram that i got nervous about before the warranty ran out so traded it for the xfire. i fell in love with it from the first time i saw it and after a year of ownership i still love it just as much as the first day i drove it. it has been in the shop for a few things, mostly minor issues, and now that the warranty is over i'm just a little nervous. i know its a "chrysler" but i'm keeping it because of its Benz heart and reputation. i have heard conflicting stories about the powertrain warranty. i have an '05 limited roadster and was wondering if i have the 7 yr/70,000 mile warranty. how can i find out. i still hear the "humm" when driving around 30 to 40 mph. it only happens between those speeds and only while in 5th gear. very strange and have complained about it to the dealer before the warranty was over but they couldn't duplicate it. it seems to do it much worse when the car is cold but it is quite hard to duplicate it consistently. the "humm" comes and goes with no regularity but i DEFINITELY notice it when it happens. it reverberates through the whole car and is very distinctive as a sound that is not normal. if something does go wrong with the drivetrain due to this humming sound i'm hearing will i e responsible to fix it? am i covered til 70,000 miles? how can i find out if my baby has the drivetrain coverage? any help would be greatly appreciated. anyways, hi to all...i look forward to visiting the sight daily and although i don't post alot i read all of your thoughts and appreciate the input. i have learned alot about my baby from you all and look forward to a long relationship with you. any hookups planned for florida or the southeast anytime soon. the weather is starting to get better. i've been topless a lot this winter here in florida thanks to the mild weather. not trying to rub it in, i know all of you in the northern states have had terrible storms. hopefully it will getting better. take care all...benji

Benji, I picked up my sort of used 2005 srt6 today, and burning time bs-ing with some salesmen while waiting for the financial types. A salesman mentioned that the car had a 7 yr/70,000 limited warranty. I'll be contacting DC tomorrow to verify his claim. My assumption was a 3 yr/36,000 limited warranty since it was never registered by a private owner. He claimed it applied to MY2005.

The 3/36 is a limited warranty on all crossfires. The 7/70 is a powertrain warranty only on non-srt crossfires and is transferable to the second owner for $150 if done within 30 days of purchase.

I bought my SRT6 in the beginning of January and recently received some warranty information in the mail from Chrysler. The letter noted my VIN and said that it had the 7/70 warranty.

I wonder if this was a generic letter about crossfires but with the new owner info printed on it. Also, did you buy it used and the previous owner purchased the extended 7/70 limited warranty? I'll have to call DCX and give them my VIN just to see what they say. I really don't think that the SRT models have the 7/70 powertrain warranty.

I bought it with 3,500 miles on it. It was previously owned by DCX (exec's car).

If the car is a used Chrysler Certified vehicle then you get the 7/70,000. At least that is the way it was on mine.

First owners of new crossfires received the 7/70 powertrain warranty on the car. Second owners can have the 7/70 powertrain warranty transferred to them for $150, if done within 30 days after purchase. If the second owner did not pay this fee by the deadline, the warranty is no longer valid. You can call DCX and give them the last 8 of your VIN to find out what coverage you have.

Hope this helps.
