replace base cloth seats with leather ones?
replace base cloth seats with leather ones?
I have an '05 base roadster and I saw leather crossfire seats for sale on ebay. Does anyone know if the leather seats will be an easy replacement? Remember that base roadsters have manual seat adjustments and limited or SRT seats would be electric...that may be an issue. If anyone has done this before or would be able to enlighten me, please let me know.
Thanks,
Andy

Re: replace base cloth seats with leather ones?
I just finished making the swap on my '05 roadster. the wiring for the power adjuster is there you'll just have to pick up a power seat relay from the dealer...about $25 and plug it in behind the left side dash. i don't have the part number handy...if you do a search on power seats you should find the info.

Gary,
I'm doing the same conversion now. The seats I purchased were from a wreck and the "pig tails" were cut but still attached to the seats. Any tips on the installation process? My priorites are the seat heater then the electric seat adjust. Scott

if your cloth seats are in good shape I would be interested in them,, no my seats are not for sale or swap, i just would like to try the cloth seats for a year or so.
note: I would use my elect frames on both seats/ as i already swapped the driver's to the passenger side and pass. to the drivers side.,,,now the drivers seat is like a new seat. in Feb. of this year 2018,,jim

I swapped from left to right. removing the frame you need to pull and push to get to the bolts, then the wiring was on the wrong side so i just zip tied the wiring harness down,,where it was clipped to the seat bottom, it almost takes two people as you have to lift the frame hold it in the air ( maybe 1 inch high) while the other person removes and reinstall the bolts, to do my seats it took about 1 1/2 hour pm me your email asking for seat pic and i'll send you what i have too many to post. jim

Super easy to change complete seats
A little bit harder to change covers and foam, if required, but not to difficult
One person job and some time to do it
Have a drop sheet or chunk of carpet you can work on and not damage the covers. Toughest item is getting the plastic pin out in one piece
It’s a pin that holds the trim cover in place where the back joins the seat on the outside edge. If you’re going to this trouble, now is the time to inspect and/or swap out the seat heaters. Several options are available on EBay you have to cut to size but this too is pretty easy.
I’ve done both. If your handy this will be a no brainer. If your not I wouldn’t advise undertaking it If you take it on, take lots of pictures and only do one at a time so you can reference back on the original
Download the service manual. Lots of info in there
