Question Wind Screen Installation

I bought a windscreen from another member for a friend and it came with no installation instructions. I checked out their web. site and the only thing I could find was installation for a Solstice. Does anybody have the instructions they could forward me or post?

Thank,
Steve

Which Windscreen did you buy? If it is the Windresistor, it mounts with the two umbrella hook screws mounted behind the seats.

Yeah, that's the one. I was hoping the guy I got it for would take it to the local mechanic that does his work, but nooo, he wants me to do the install. I got the wiring harness with the two control ***** to wire it up to his lights and also the battery pack with a switch. Mounting it will be easy, but finding where I need to tap into will be the hard part.

Understood, I just put a cigar lighter adapter on mine, plug it in when I want it and put the adapter next to the passenger seat, when not in use. I'm afraid I can't help with that method. It sounds like a very clean install though. You might try emailing Windrestrictor. They are great to deal with.

I emailed Stephen Pennington and he is sending me detailed instructions with picture's for hard wiring it into the OEM harness.

Thanks,
Steve

I don't know if this helps but you can get the installation instructions for the Mopar windscreen here:

The one I'm going to install for him mounts on the umbrella hook mounts and has different options on the lighting. One way is with a battery pack & a switch and the other has a wiring harness that wire's into the OEM lighting system. I should have instructions in the mail coming to me, Stephen Pennington said he was sending them out yesterday.

I installed one of these right after I got my roadster. It is a quality product and looks cool/classy rather than tacky as I was concerned about. At night it looks especially good.

The only downside is that it scratches if you look at it wrong. Keep a kitchen garbage bag in the car so you can easily cover it at car washes.

Hi Steve,

I am a new Crossfire (2005) owner and I have just ordered an illuminated Wind Resistor from Texas, it has to be wired in.

Was yours the same type, if so how did you do at the installation?

I was told by the supplier that is is quite simple, but apparently there is only a 10 minute window while the roof is half way up to get the electrical work done, then the roof closes.

Do you have any tips for me.

Thanks,

Neil

Thumbs up Re: Wind Screen Installation

Just incase any of you are wanting instructions, please email us at Sales@windrestrictor.com

The install is quite simple really. The standard hook up is only 2 wires. One is grounded to chasis and the other is hooked into the red or green wire in the trunk. The installation instructions really seem to be quite extensive. If any of you have any questions please feel free to call me directly at 972-487-5987. I enjoy talking people through the installations of our fine products. The BLM option is not much harder. Only 5 wires. 2 are ground wires, 1 goes to the screen and the other 2 go to the red and green in trunk. The glass only requires 2 screws to be removed and then you mount it.

The roofs do have an auto close setting but it's not dangerous. It suprised me though! This is only if you have the roof half way closed. Also, be sure not to open and close the roof without the engine on. (I hope that's obvious).

Stephen

When I did mine I had the roof all the way open. I used the unlock tool to open the roof cover and a wood block and rag to hold it till I was done. Very easy and no rushing this way. This is a great product!
