Default farewell to you all

just wanted to give a proper farewell. i traded the xf for a vette. it started with the top. back window separated from the top on lower left corner. took 2 weeks to get one then the dealer had it for 3 days. when i picked it up the new top was defective. said they would have to order a new one at their cost. btw i paid $2,300 to have it replaced. no warranty anymore. got home later the same eveng with the defective top and the key started sticking in the ignition. found out that would be another $850 to repair. fearing the money-pit syndrome i traded it in for a corvette. very happy with it but miss the gas mileage! just wanted to thank you all for the 2 years of support you have given me and let you all know i really enjoyed my xf. take care all... benji

A new vette or a C-5 vette should, make that will get better gas mileage. Especially so with the 6 speed. I'm glad
I've had no problems and am still under warranty.

Good luck with your vette. I'll bet you miss the XFire ever so often.

Got pics of the new ride? How much did you get for the trade if you don't mind me asking.

Well, there's no such thing as a trouble free car. Enjoy the rattles of the vette. At least that's what my friends vette started doing after he made his last payment to pay it off.

Not to discurage but this months issue of Corvette fever shows lots of C6s with 50,000 or so miles needing new $900.00 shocks and developing oil leaks at the shaft/housing between the engine and trans. The mag says this should be considered normal wear.

A vettes a damn nice purchase, especially a c6. Dont ever look back, unless its to see a n/a xf in your rear view mirror.

Corvette rattles? Come on guys, how can you be talking smack about a far superior car. Congrats on the purchase, you will get better gas mileage with a 5.7 liter v8 than you did with a 3.2 liter v6. My crossfire had all sorts or rattles and squeks, I loved it, but I am also honest. It is not an amazingly well put together interior. My cup holder broke the second week I had the car. C5's are great, great sports cars and gt cars. One of the finest American made vehicles ever.

Benjiboy, sorry to see ya go, but with all you've been thru, who can blame ya. Good Luck with the Vette.
Unfortunately, you must have forgot about the "small print" on your forum application that said:

"You can check out anytime you like, but you can never leave"

I keep wondering when my SRT will start with the rattles and squeaks . I must have bought the only non defective xf in the world. C-5 far superior, I think not.

Don't slag the Vettes simply because you've got a Crossfire ... That's flawed logic. I've only owned one Crossfire, and a number of Vettes. The C5 and C6 cars are great cars. If I had a dollar for every squeek they developed while I owned them, I'd have an empty wallet ... Zero. The only thing that bugged me about the Vette was that you see so many of them, but that's another good sign they are solid cars.

My '06 roadster has 20K miles with no squeeks or rattles. I had a 2004 Coupe with over 20K miles with no squeeks or rattles.

I think the vast majority of XFires have few, if any, problems other than the headlight moisture, seat warmer and a couple of other problems that can be fixed under warranty.

One thing is for sure, with the vette you can save a ton of money on oil and filter changes. A Chevy engine doesn't have the needs of a Mercedes engine. About any mechanic can work on a Chevy engine, which can't be said for the Crossfire engine.

My Xfire has a ridiculous amount of rattles and squeaks. Go ahead, push against the door panels, I dare ya!! Oh, don't forget about that ridiculous hatch! I had to use double sided tape on the stops to keep it from rattling even after adjusting them all the way down!

Just don't ever do this to your 'vette!!!
