Default Back to my car in 4 days! Ideas from Houston->Austin

Hi All! Finally coming back to Texas from Ireland for a week on Friday. I finally get to use my car that's been sitting alone in a garage for the past 9 months! Any recommendations on a cool route from Houston->Austin to play with my car on? I usually go 290 or I10... any other ideas?

290 to 21 and turn south to Bastrop then west on 71 to Austin. If you are not in a hurry as you leave Bastrop take 21 south again to FM150 (the Kyle exit) go west on 150 to I35 and back north on I35 to Austin.

Thanks! I'll be heading that way it looks like then (I know exactly where the 21 is... leads to A&M if I go north, right?).

Looking forward to some Texas heat!
