Smile Mohawk/Husky Gas

For all Canadian CrossFire owners:

Mohawk and Husky are now selling mid octane grade (90) gasoline for the price of regular!

Ethanol, octane and engine performance

Consumers often ask questions about the different octane ratings, especially as they relate to our ethanol blends. Husky's octane ratings for gasoline are 87 (regular), 89 to 90 (midgrade) and 92 to 94 (premium grade). The compression ratio of a vehicle's engine determines the minimum gasoline octane rating the engine requires. Essentially, octane rating is a measure of how much fuel can be compressed before it ignites spontaneously. When gas ignites by compression rather than from the spark from the spark plug, it causes engine "knock" which can damage an engine. Lower-octane gasoline can handle the least amount of compression before knocking.
The addition of ethanol results in a higher octane rating for the blended gasoline. Husky creates its 89 to 94 octane "Mother Nature's Fuel" by blending up to 10% ethanol with regular unleaded or premium gasoline. The higher-octane levels of ethanol-blended fuels are a boon to high-performance engines.
