Smile FYI: Reduction of lease buyout price.

My roadster's lease is up in a few months. I called Chrysler FInancial and asked if they could lower the buyout price since the local dealers were selling the remaining new cars at heavy discounts. The agent immediately offered me a lower price!

Moral of the story, Ask and you shall recieve!

What you say is true. Two weeks ago the lease for my wife's Crossfire expired and we went to my friend's dealership to buy the car. The residual on her car was $19,060. My friend told me that Chrysler had a new program and that someone came in the day before with a Crossfire with a residual of $17,500 and when they called Chrysler about buying it, they told him he could have the car for the same price as they would offer it to the dealership, $14,250. A considerable reduction over the residual.

So then we got on the phone and called about our Crossfire. We told them that we were interested in purchasing the car and wanted to know what they would sell it to us for and they said, "We'll give you a $1,000 rebate off residual." That made our price, $18,060. I told them about the other Crossfire and the over $3,000 off the residual and they responded that he was turning in a car from a 3 year lease that had 28,000 miles on it and our car had less than 14,000 miles. So the bottom line is, our car is worth more than the $19,060 that we owed and they were offering $1,000 as a courtesy.

So what did we do? DAMN RIGHT, we bought it! It's unfortunate that we ended up paying over $35,000 for our car but, on the positive side, we had the pleasure of driving this beauty for 3 years and that's worth something.

As a side note, my son went to my friend's dealership the next day and bought a 2007 Coupe, 6-speed with 6,200 mile for $16,500. So now we are a 2 Crossfire family. A coupe and a limited roadster. What's next? An SRT-6? Naw, I could have bought one 3 years ago. This car screams for a manual transmission and we didn't want one if it had to be an automatic.

My 2 cents, sports cars, muscle cars and trucks should be manual transmissions. What can I say, old school. When both my kids learned to drive, they learned on manuals under my insistence. They both fought me then, but thank me now. As you can see, my son bought a 6-speed car.

To paraphrase a commercial: automatic=2 flags. 6-speed=6 flags. 6 FLAGS, MORE FUN!!

So back to the original point. Yes, you can get your Crossfire converted from a lease to a loan for less than the residual. JUST ASK!

Well, good job guys, but the real story is Chrysler no longer offers a lease anymore as of last week. They don't want the cars back, so now they are willing to come off the price...So even though my jeep is leased, I just negotiated a loan, don't know if I will do it, I've only been the lease a yr...but it is good to know we have a chance of buying our leased vehicles at a good price...
