I don't know, I think flipping and hitting a tree in a Roadster would be a very bad thing.

I am already searching for a replacement. I am going to either go with an '07 limited still sitting new on a lot somewhere or an SRT... still weighing the options. It will be a roadster, it will be black and it will be the new Batmobile... good news is most of my mods can be salvaged off the wreck... so a good head start..

Here are the autopsy photos:

I hope everything turns out positive in the end (like moving to an SRT as many have suggested). Sometimes life just works out that way and ends up better in the end!

Oddly enough, the only two cars I've owned in my name alone: '01 Jeep Wrangler and my '05 Black Crossfire Roadster.

Sadly my xfire will be moving on pretty soon since my wife and I are expecting our first kid in Sept! Too bad we're in different states (judging by the license plate on the car in your photo) or this could have been a blessing in disguise. hehe

Cheers

Safe, amazing car, hit a large doe, (well over 100#'s), with mine at about 60 mph. The deer got flipped around & died instantly, the crossfire had a few minor pieces going up over the winshield!., but never shuddered, I never felt anything in the steering wheel & it just kept on going up the road like nothing happened!!. Pulled over & got out to look it over, front edge of hood peeled down some, & the emblem hanging down on one end, hood shifted on its hinges about 1/2", front left headlite outer glass busted, 3 stress cracks in the clear on top of the front bumper facia, grill had a few supports betwen the louvers busted, thats it!. Now tho, this all amounted to $3500 at the body shop, as they replaced everything with new parts, NO aftermarket parts available for the Crossfire so headlite assmb, $440, hood, $770, grille, $400 something!!!!, hood hinges & other small parts, on & on, but the x-fire is as new again.

Sorry for your loss, those pictures make me cringe. I am curious as to how much the insurance company offers you. Obviously the price of XFIRES is down dramatically, I see Rdstrs as low as $12-13,000 for sale. Most insurance companys try to screw you anyway, let us know what they try and settle with you for.I wonder how the other XFIRES that were totaled in the last year made out from their settlements. Good look in your pursuit of another XFIRE.

Yeah, I am concerned about that too. I am letting my insurance deal with the other side, it's Ohio Casualty on my side and Erie Insurance on the other side which are typically pretty decent companies as far as screwing you over (at least better than State Farm, et al). I will report back.

I am hoping to move to an SRT, but I really just only want a black roadster, so that's a pretty narrow pool to draw from. I am on the hunt, though.

There was one here in FL that I had looked at but chose against a black because of the work to keep it looking tip top. I can see if he still has it avail. It was MINT! and a 2005 with only 2500 miles on it. THe guy was firm at 18k back then but I am not sure if he still is. There was a warranty left on it because he bought it new in 07.

Let me know if you are interested.

Thanks

Nate

Bhays, that's terrible news about your car, but fantastic nobody was hurt.
If you do wind up with another "BLACK" car, are you going to give it the "Batman" treatment?
I've been on this forum going on 3.5+ years, and I haven't kept an accurate count of all the Crossfires that have met with an early demise. But thankfully, it seems like nobody has been seriously injured in a Crossfire. I think that speaks volumes on the cars construction, not to mention somebody must be watching over us.

Most definitely, I will absolutely end up with another black roadster, the particular flavor is the question, but the Joker will not have the last laugh. My decision tree goes this way:

Black SRT Roadster - awesome, I will paint the windshield surround, side strakes and door handles black. I can live with the auto, but grudgingly..

If it turns out to be a non-srt black roadster (got to be a six speed), is it worth having to black out the windshield surround, side strakes and door handles to get the interior niceties of a Limited or do I just go for another base roadster... either way I have to swap on the srt bumper, Limited would already have the fog lights...

Decisions Decisions... if that Black SRT roadster in Florida pans out, the decision will be made for me I expect.

This is shocking news. Yours was such a cool modification. I actually directed my son to the pictures. He is a car guy and appreciates the "tricked out or up", I am not cool enought to know which it is....

He loved the rims and I sent him your picture this morning and we grieve for you. But wow, you are not a bat - you are a cat...and you have nine lives. Happy that you are not injured!

good luck in your search. I know where there is a 2007 black roadster for sale but it is here in Ottawa. Hopefully, the insurance meanies will spring for an SRT for you.

Bhays, I'm sure someone on here that has a base model would be happy to trade you the limited trim for the base trim, and then you don't have to paint!

If anyone has black base model trim and would like to trade, drop me a pm. I am buying either an SRT or Limited in the next couple of weeks and will be wanting to switch to black trim. Thanks for the suggestion.
