Default I Need Help Deciding...

OK Crossfire owners, help me out. I know nothing about Crossfires except that I like their looks and I want one. I've been reading info on this forum and I'm learning more each day. I have located a 2005 Yellow Roadster with 15K miles for $17K. I have located a 2007 Red Roadster with 16K miles for $20K. I would love to hear some opinions on these. They are both in excellent condition and both gorgeous! HELP!

yellow seems to be the better deal...you know to offer less though, so you may get it for 16200-16500. Since you have been reading the threads, and knowing parts are getting hard to find, and they are no longer being made....that gives you some bargaining room...so go haggle....good luck...and welcome...

oledoc2u is right. There were no changes between those years, and the mileage is about the same. The only difference would probably be warranty left? but unless something happens that's worth $3,000 you come out ahead. As long as you like the Yellow over Red you're laughing

And double check the rear window on the older one for seal. They can separate if kept in high heat areas.

There are some of us that have two Crossfires.

You could buy both and then you wouldn't have to decide which to get!

Welcome either way!

The yellow one is definitely a Limited. Is the red a "limited" edition? The easiest way to tell is by the interior. If the red has a clost interior then it does not have all the goodies that the yellow one would have.

Well here goes, the color that you really want is the SSB Silver Sapphire Blue , but since that is not on the table, I would say that you keep looking for the one that you really want and if you like the red or yeller is an easy choice.

My opoinion is that the yellow is a better color for the ladies (its a pretty color). The Red one may also be a better option because of the warranty left. You can however definitely get the red one down a bit closer to 17 as i got my SSB with 14k miles for $18k last november.

If none of these work for you keep searching, the deals are out there!

Don't only buy based on looks -- have it inspected by someone who knows Crossfires (or at least, SLK320s). That being said, I bought my 2007 machine gray with 12k miles in 8/2008 for $16,700, still with two years factory warranty remaining. So either the red one is overpriced or prices are finally rising!

Thanks everyone for the helpful info. Two would be nice but don't think my husband wants to spring for two! I drove the red one Sunday and it isn't a limited so I have dismissed it...the man would not come down any on price either. Going to drive the Yellow one now....we'll see how that goes.

The yellow ones are a little more rare if you ask me. I hope the test drive goes well...

No limited and he sill wanted 20 for it. Absolute nonsense! Good that you moved on.

THe yellow would definitely be the way to go especially since you are a lady. Its a rare color and if it is in good shape go for it. But whatever you do dont make the decision based on impulse. Work that deal!

Send Kimpossible a PM and ask her about her yeller roadster. Great gal and she loves hers.

Ok Crossfire buddies, I need some more help because I don't want to get burned on the price. I test drove the Yellow Roadster today and loved it! It was a trade-in Friday by a little man that bought it brand new and paid $43,800 for it (from the same dealership that has it now). It's a 2005 with 14,701 miles on it now. The car has 2 years left on the warranty. I would have to pay a $400 fee to get the car "Certified" in order to obtain the warranty. Once they added 7% sales tax, title and certified fees, the total came to $18298.00. Is this a fair price? Everything was in perfect working order except for the mirror **** (on console) which they said they would order. The car had a few little paint chips from rocks (I assume) hitting the front. They told me they would fix those but I would have to pay their cost to get them fixed. I left there telling them that I had to think about it so I need to make a decision pretty fast.

Seems a wee bit high though a quick look around Auto Trader shows prices on Roadsters from 28K to 15,9K so it's not outrageous by any means.

The $400 warranty fee is correct because you're the 2nd owner.

Paint chips on the front end - nothing new there (my '04 w/ 69K on the odometer is starting to look pretty gamey in that dept.!). Check under the doors for any rust.

Given that, I'd say "sign ze papers!"

It depends...

How much do you want it?
How much are you willing to pay?
How good are you at haggling...

I worked my deal from 25k down to 18 and the car was a mint 2007. At the end of the day they still made money so I was happy with the price as it was what I was willing to pay.

Oh and that funny little dealer fee, that is all profit so make sure that whatever price you are comfortable paying for the car also includes that fee in your mind.

In the end the price is not that bad but verify that the warranty still has two years on it! The reality is that if you like it you gotta pay to play.

I love my car and pushed my dealer to the limit to get my price, but you have to be willing to loose it if you push hard.

All the best on your purchase!

The price is not unreasonable for a car in "like new" condition. With a little prodding you should be able to get them to fis the chips at no extra cost.

Just think how good you are going to look cruisin' in that little beauty!

Have it Checked out by a professional mechanic!
After you get the results; make a decision and move on with your life!
I bought an 06 alabaster with 2,000 miles on it and at the time(Feb of 07) the $22,500 looked great!
I would not sell this car back to the prior owner or anyone else!
Sometimes you have to feel it!
Good Luck!

Red, green, purple!
I do not care about the color!
It's all about this car! When I was younger; I was a freak for the TR6; then I sat in one. I'm not that big but, I could not get comfortable in that car. I think this car is a go or no go!
I'm a go! I think that is what the forum is about. I see people pass me in X-fires and they don't even wave I don't think they get it.
I can't wait for my little bad boy to be one of the few standing!

I bought the 2005 Classic Yellow Roadster Limited! I LOVE it! I will have to post some pictures. With only a little over 14K miles, it still looks brand new. I'm still reading my manual and trying to figure out all of the little ***** and buttons. The car came with all of the original papers, manuals, navigation booklet and even the window sticker that lists all of the standard and optional equipment. My little Canary is in her new home, the garage, by my other vehicle. My husband's poor Land Cruiser got booted from the garage.
