Blemish #2 -- need sympathy
After 5 years and 35k miles, picked up my second blemish. First was a very slight door ding from a moron in a pickup truck. You have to look down the car in the right light, but it looks like the Grand Canyon to me. Then I parked too close to the garage door and it came down and scraped the rear bumper. I compounded most of it out, but I know it's there and that's all I see when I look at the back of the car. No one to blame but me. XF owner sympathy appreciated because my wife just thinks I'm obsessive about the car. What's wrong with that?

You've got it. Unfortunately any car is only new once. Mine has several rock chips on the hood and even on the roof, not to mention the bumper. The price of HPDE and dirty road courses full of rocks. (I even got a crack in the windshield) I think its time for imagination. Perhaps some tasteful slasher stripes on the "spot"

We feel your pain......ours was hit by a train......And it was kept as pretty as petty could be. Check out our gallery.
Go buy something nice for her (the car that is).
Also helpful, pull your car into the garage so as in a safe position, where you want it parked everytime you pull in. Hang a pingpong ball from the ceiling of your garage so it touches the center of your windshield. You pull in, touch the ball on the center of the windshield everytime and you know your in your "safe spot".

My wife put the window down while we were waiting for a train today ....put her arm on the top of the door & started tapping her fingers to the beat of the music....I asked her not to touch the clean paint unless she had clean white gloves on.....I should have kept my mouth shut!!
Also discovered last night (after all these years of being accused of snoring), that the cat is a ventriloquist & has been setting me up!

Take heart, I gave ours the first "ding" did a fine job of it too, ran a cub over, bent the rim of the wheel and cut the tire in two places......Gary was a little relieved he wasn't the first. Now if I were to do that to the Viper-ouch.
XF Redo, I have a 2x4 laid out on the garage floor as a tire stop. Biggest reason is that my son's 2007 XF is still parked sideways in the back of the two-stall garage and I don't want to hit it. I was just careless and did not pull in as far as the 2x4 and everytime I look at the scratch I will mentally kick myself in the a$$. I also realized it is actually blemish #3...I have slight (about 2" worth) of curb rash on the right rear which will be a summer repair project using the instructions off the forum. PS -- I don't believe I can find a 100% unblemished XF after 3-5 years. Most people mistake mine for brand new, they just don't know where to look (closely) to see the "horrendous" damage.

Or a very old dead cub ????
or maybe it was a curb made from a very old dead bear? Or maybe I just can't type very well.
