I know this is an old topic, but fun to re-cycle. I was sitting at a local restaurant last night having dinner on the patio with the wife, and had parked my roadster about 15' away where I could watch for door bangers. Three different couples went by and paused to comment on the car. One guy could not believe it was a Chrysler -- I called out that it was, but disguising an SLK320. The other two stopped and commented on how nice it looked and one even explained to his young son that it was a Mercedes underneath. It's nice to own a 6 year old car (35k miles) that still gets looks. I know you all feel the same about your rides.

Long story short, 3 lane road, 3 cars, an impreza, and mr2, and some chrysler cirrus or something....take off "racing" Impreza has the lead, cirrus in last, I squeeze between em and dust the impreza....one ricer flyby later i had to swerve out of the way of a brick from the impreza and an attempted rearending by the cirrus :P
But i've also had people come to me at the track with the simple "What IS it?" question.

Pulling out on the highway last night and I thought some guy, in a pickup, was going to break his neck....

While travelling up a 4 lane road a couple of days ago a local Police car almost pulled out in front of me from a side street, but stopped at the last second. I went by, and continued up the street to a major intersection where I was going to make a left turn.
The Police officer pulled up on my right, and yelled over to me (with a big grin) that he really like what I did to my car, that it really made it stand out in a crowd, and gave me a thumbs up. I thanked him and then I had to move because I had the left turn arrow.
I was relieved he didn't say something about not having a front plate, then I started over thinking the whole episode in my head, and started worrying.
When a "LEO" tells you that your car really "stands out" from everybody elses, Is that a good thing.?

I actually had three guys in my neighborhood comment positively on my car the other day. Most folks don't take notice here and they probably don't like my ANSA exhaust either as I rumble through the neighborhood.

Did you have your "My Name is Ruth" shirt on?!?! That would explain a lot.
Was trying to get some retail therapy at Marshall's at lunchtime on Tuesday but some guy named Jim was waiting for me by the door. Saw me park my xf & had to tell his xf story. Personal car loan to a girl. Falling out xmas eve. Car left on doorstep. Sold in a week via craigslist. Made him shop shoe dept with me. He has slk320 but kept saying xf is FAST.
Sitting in waiting room waiting to get my cast taken off.... MD running late after moving me up.

I've always caused a sensation in my neighborhood. Everytime I leave or return in my roadster the entire neighborhood comes out to watch. Eventually I realized it's because there are few things funnier than watching a middle-aged fat man struggling in and out of a little red sports car.
Yesterday we cruised to Lake Geneva, Wisconsin..... there were about 10 of us in our xFires . The road we were on, took us past a public beach area. This area is best described as a 2 lane hwy, 25 mph limit, and stretched along the lake for about 1/2 mile. The road seemed like it ran between the parking lot for the beach (on our left), and the beach on the right. Actually the beach and water, was about 20ft from the road.
The day was hot and beautiful and the beach was crowded and there were approximately 40 to 50 recreation boats that had set anchor and backed in towards the beach, and each boat had people swiming off their platforms, and playing frisbees and throwing footballs back and forth.
As we went by, all 10 of us in caravan, with our borla,s and Monza,s sounding away, almost everyone on the boats, in the water, sitting on blankets on the beach .... literally stopped what they were doing and just watched us go by ..... FELT GOOD!!!!

I was eating lunch in a small local restaurant when a woman in her mid 60s' came in & asked the owner who's beautiful red convertible was parked outside. It seems most of the people who comment on my car are older women and kids.
