Beening a new 2005 owner I seen a few Pontiac solstice from a distance and thought they were crossfire 2008's bodies they looked alot like the xfire but then seen one up close and seen it was a Pontiac and then just two blocks away see a Saturn Sky. These all seam like knock Offs anyone drive they other cars the specs look like aroun 170hp and no power roofs whats up with that. any thoughts on these cars??

Solstice/Sky/Opel Gt were built on the same platform. A 177hp four banger w/ a turbo option pushing 265hp.
I've never seen the coupe version that pontiac still has a page for ... Pontiac Solstice - Roadster and Coupe| Discontinued | Pontiac

Build quality is sub-par...I've seen many that haven't ages well at all. Decent styling though and the coupe looks nice. Again, I haven't seen a coupe in person, it could have been still born with the demise of Pontiac.

There are some coupes on Autotrader so they were made. Not bad looking really. I hate four bangers though.

They never impressed me and were never on our radar looking for a roadster. I too shy away from GM. I love the looks of the Chevy SS/R, but it's that GM thing again.

I saw a Solstice coupe at a car show and thought it looked very cool - much better than the convertible version. The problem was that the girl driving it admitted that while it looked good, it was full of rattles, noises and lingering little problems...and she was not happy with the anemic power, either.

The coupe's do exist, but they only made ~700 of them. I looked at them when I totalled the first XF, but as someone said, the build quality is low.

I really like the Z4M coupe myself, but this is the roadster section so I will shut up

Had a Solstice, I would agree, traded it for the Roadster. Never looked back.

I agree Jon, that's why we traded it off to get the '05 Roadster.

there was one at a dealership this past summer. It really did look cool but then again, build quality. Also looked hard to see out even moreso than an XF

There's a monthly cruise night at a local Buick/Pontiac (formerly) dealer in Newtown Square, PA. They had a coupe on the lot in the spring and they had the nerve to ADD $3,000 to the MSRP price of the car. Apparently it was sold, because at the next cruise night it was gone.
It did look better than the convertible....

I saw the Skye at the GR auto show a few years back and liked the looks - still do. The Solstice is butt ugly from the front. However, the I4 with a 5-speed and complete lack of storage (even worse than our roadsters) was a deal killer. Now the red line with 265 hp is intriguing, but not enough to overcome the other weaknesses. And like our spawn of the Chrysler-MB failed marriage, they are now GM orphans, too.

The interior of the Solstice is horid. There was one on the lot where I bought my SRT6. I had no dsire to test drive it.

Yeah...I saw a TV magazine review and they said the Sky had a much better interior with improved fit and finish over the Pontiac due to Saturn using the Open switchgear which was improved for the Euro market.
Pontiac interiors from '71 til the plug pulled, was the worst.

I'm sure alot of us here remember the cheesy interiors on the 70's Trans-ams. I know I do. Remember that so called "engine turned" dash.

Considered a Solstice Turbo before buying the XF. I liked the look but it had no trunk. The cars gotta have a trunk.

I had two Saturn sc & sl. I drove them for around 200,000 miles. I replaced the brakes once and the tires once on each car. They had no rattles and a very solid ride.

I think the Sky was made by Pontiac and sold as a Saturn. That's where a lot of car companies screw up. They have someone else build the car and they change great cars and make the cheaper until they have a peice of crap.

My next work car, I hope find an old sl with low miles

Ditto on that. test rode one two years ago, and I can still remember how utterly boring, and well, cheap, the car was. Sort of like a movie car where they take a Pinto or vega underbody and slap a fake ferrari daytona body on it so they can ram it off a building for special effects. Drove it for about 15 minutes and handed it back with no interest in ever looking at another one. However, seeing the coupe on the street I have to say it looks nice. But it's just looks. Nothing further to really say about it.

I looked at and test drove a Solstice first. It was fun to drive, but I didn't like that it didn't have any trunk/storage space for a weekend trip, and the convertible top was manual.
