Thumbs up Supercharger or Turbo Kits

Hi,
Im new to the Crossfire family. I just got a 2005 Limited Roadster & I wanted to do some modifications to it. I was thinking of adding a supercharger or turbo to it. I know nothing about engines but I have a close friend who is a master technician who would do all the work needed. Anybody have any suggestions on what i should go with?....

Also, I just saw a crossfire that said AMX on the back. Is this a special model or what?

Zach

Welcome Zack. Congrats on your new Xfire!

You'll find lots of useful information on upgrading your Xfire here. Just use the search button and sit back with a bucket of popcorn for a full evening of reading.

As far as that AMX Crossfire goes, was it white? I'm pretty sure it's a "special edition" by a member here.

If your new toy does not say SRT6 anywhere, just enjoy it the way it is. Not really economical to increase performance and there are no after-market turbo or s/c options. DIY is real expensive. I am sure you will see additional comments "you should have bought an SRT6", but there is a lot of fun to be had in a n/a XF which can still hit 150 mph. Welcome.

With enough $$$$ one can do just about anything to the Crossfire, or any other car, bike or trike. The real question is; does the expenses justify the end result? I understand those Kleemans are expensive, especially if professionally installed.

Vpat,
Posted because i felt the following " and there are no after-market turbo or s/c options" to be inaccurate. Last anyone looked into it on this forum parts and labor in Colorado Springs, CO. ran ~ $10,500.00. There's a significant difference between expensive and non existent.

That's the first question many people ask on this forum, they usually get laughed at. But you are lucky.
You can add an SRT6 engine for $9,250 installed if its an auto.
Try this. https://www.crossfireforum.org/forum...tml#post544405

Ragtop-

I appreciate your feed back, I was not aware that there was no after market turbos or superchargers available, I could have sworn, however, that I read a post in here where someone had a Kleeman supercharger hooked up to a Crossfire. I also thought that I read a thread where someone was affixing a turbo to the Crossfire, even though many said it wasn’t possible, and it may not have been as I’ve not run across the results of that thread.

But, once again I will say that given enough money and ambition, one would be able to do exactly that. Doing the impossible is what Americans do best, or at least we used to.

I remember back in the early 60’s a guy with a slide rule stated that a car (dragster) would not be able to exceed something like 200 MPH in the standing quarter mile, it just wasn’t physically possible, do you know what they are running the quarter in now a days?

Sometime, somewhere just as soon as you say it can’t, someone will make it can. For example, if one would have told me in 1999 that in 2009 the Imperial Federal Government would own a major portion of GM and fire the CEO of a private corporation, I would have called him nuts, it could never happen.

Adding forced induction to an N/A Crossfire is time and money consuming but can be done. Changing to, or adding a turbocharger to an SRT6 is easier because the computer is already set up for it. The platform the Crossfire is built on has its fair share of aftermarket mods available, but a bolt on affair for a turbo or supercharger is not in the cards.

I second this endorsment. Lucky enough to have spent some time with this car at the last Dragon. Everything about the build is 1st class and with 525 hp there is absolutly no way anyone could be disapointed with the investment.

Make that two endorsements.

Smack - If you are going to invest the money into the car to perform like it has the 5.5 or close to it, then this is as good if not better investment.

Vpats, the Politics forum is further down the page. If I wanted Republican Socialism, I would have moved to Scotland. And I apologize the half breed in chief embarrassed your robe-wearing friends by making GM profitable again

Seriously. The best option for NA performance is an SRT & autostick. While Chrysler put the Xfire manual into Jeeps, the 6 speed can only handle 275 lb/feet of torque. A 3.2 Mercedes blown engine (super or turbo) would rip it to shreds.

Not that I wouldn't consider trying a Kleeman/manual combo. But the manual throw is long. I am a realist. I will build a car based on what I can make work. No nonsense from my mouth ... just me and my nonsense shutting some poor sucker's nonsense down

Just you don't be that poor sucker.
