Default Ebay

I can remember when it used to be fun to log on to Ebay and look for Crossfire stuff. There used to be 6-8 pages of actual parts, accessorys and cars. Now it is 465 pages of Xenon conversion kits and light bulbs etc. I think there are more lights listed by the same person than there are Crossfires left in the world. I should think they would sell more if the buyer thought there was only a few of an item instead of 600 at he same price? It sure makes it almost impossable to search for just general items you might want to pick up. Do they charge per listing or only when it sells. There are always a few people spoiling it for the majority.
That is another subject, I do wonder how many are left?

Agreed, ebay is like a brothel now, disgusting and disappointing. Yet another reason this forum is so valuable.

You have to use the "parenthesis" as in "Crossfire SRT6"

I think product listers must have a way to plug your "search" parameters into their heading.
You get all the same stuff whether you are looking for Crossfire, Porsche, Saab...anything.

I always search with "-" to deselect all the garbage
such as

Crossfire -lights -hid -led

it really cuts out the crap listings

I was refering to just being able to browse the entire catagory like a few years ago where everything was mostly pure OEM Crossfire.

A major cause of the large number of unwanted ebay search results is when ebay started including seller item listings with "compatibility" lists in the search results.

I have bought 8 cars on EBay, including 3 crossfires.
Packaging lines, tractors trailers and a backhoe bulldozer.
The list of things I have purchased there is endless but thelast few changes have made the place a bit skunky.

It used to be much more fun.

I no longer log on daily to see what's up.
Caddymike is correct, kind of a brother pimp store.

Best to get your Crossfire stuff here from the good guys.

I did find a nice Merc C320 engine cover for $49 a few weeks ago. You can find gems every now and then.

While others may have ignored your post, I didn't. It worked out quite well for me. Thanks a bunch. I can can now browse without sifting through twelve pages of turbochargers that will fit my 1967 Chrysler Newport.

Like Franc, I've bought several cars, motorcycles, and other stuff via eBay. And I think it's better suited now for unloading stuff than buying (IMO). I sold all 3 of my Merkur XR4Ti's on eBay. My 86 model (original owner; low mileage) sold in 15 minutes after I listed it!

But I agree that the blanket-wide applications of common componentry, like HID upgrades, has polluted your search for meaningful items. And, like others, I've gotten to where I don't jump in every day to see what's out there. I do watch for good buys on specific items (I'm watching about 4 XFires right now). Some bidder this past week won a very nice 05 XFire Charcoal Gray Ragtop with barely 6k on the ODO. And for a fair price.

But in this thread several have shared 'tricks of the trade' in focusing a search for specific items and/or applications. These are different than the ones I've come up with for my use. I'll try these & see what comes up. Thanks!

I just learned something. I didn't know you could subtract certain terms in the search. I agree the lighting that people list overwhelms the search. Thanks for the search tip.
