What would you do?

Aero Blue 2005 roadster SRT-6, 40,000 miles

In your sig it states you already have a 6 speed coupe. Assuming you are keeping it and adding another to your fleet......I would opt for the SRT6.

If you're selling the 6 speed coupe then I would buy both!!!

West, before I looked at the SRT I had my answer for you. Now that I see the car I have no doubts in recomending it. That is Rudys SRT and I know it was well cared for. You need to get in touch with him if you are serious. He can give you the scoup. Have you drived it yet?

Thanks. I'm aware of the history of the convertible. My brother is headed over there now. I'm trying to talk him out of the red convertible. If there is any extra value in the 4,000 miles, he'd be driving it off in no time. However, he really likes the red, and is not really interested in the high performance aspect of the SRT, and is not crazy about the color.
If it were for me, there would be no choice.

When buying used, always go with the low miles. You can never turn back the clock (not legally) My $.02. Besides, why would you recommend someone to buy a car that he doesn't like the color of, prefers the other color and is not interested in the higher performance. Just saying, remember, you asked.

Sounds like your brother is best suited to the Red Roadster.

You're right. I'm trying to talk him into what I would do.
Lots of warranty left on the red roadster, if in fact he can get it transferred. Did they have the 10-year/70,000 mile warranty in 2007?

If your brother really wants to go fast---SRT
I've got a 6 speed limited and the first winter drive I was lucky enough to earn myself a $113 ticket.
That's not to say I would not like an SRT! I think we forget that the NA's qre still 215 hp on a rollerskate!

The red one is not a Limited, it's an SE, and the 7 year/ 70,000 powertrain warranty ended in 2005. He might be able to get a pretty good deal on a Chrysler extended warranty.

Yep, a couple of good calls..... The red is an SE and overpriced IMO, and the SRT is Rudy's little rocket. No doubt which one I would get, but sounds like your brother would be better pleased with the SE.

With 4k miles, I'd say the SE is pretty close IMO, though I'm partial since I have one .

Regardless, unless you are going to have Rudy "Frankenstein" it, I'd have to go with the SRT hands down because it is also a vert. To me it is overall the better buy!
However, is it really Aero Blue as the ad says? It looks like SSB to me. Either way, that is the better buy. Were it the Aero Blue, I would be all over it and don't believe I'd have an argument from the wife.

From where I sit you couldn't possibly do better than Rudy's SRT. Great price on an SRT vert hands down. And we know the car. It's owner is one of the best gear heads I know.

Besides, a vert in Minnesota? The SE doesn't have heated seats.

If I didn't already have two SRTs Rudys would be in my garage right now.

Hands down.

Looks like SSB not Aero Blue. Both look real nice. I would think you should get a grand off either one. Can't say which way to go. I think you should buy both.

West, I have three. The red SE, a Blue coupe Limited and a Black SRT6 Roadster. I love them all. However, the SRT6 Roadster is a magical car. Get the SRT6. Gary

Why did Rudy get rid of it? That seems like a great buy!

When I talked to Rudy he did not want to do a v8 conversion on that car because the roadsters and all SRTs for that matter are rare cars. With only 928 SRT roadsters built he wated to preserve this one. Before he traded it he tried to sell it to someone on the forum to insure his baby got a good home. Rudy please correct me if this is not accurate.

I also beleive that Rudy also said a V8 conversion in a roadster is less than ideal. A lot more work due to frame strength issues.

I'd opt for the 2007 SE Roadster, hands down. Low mileage & somewhat rare (like the SRT6, not many SE's were produced). Extended warranty from Chrysler can still be had. Just contact them via website. Or you can choose to purchase an extended warranty from an independent source. And the SE is still capable of 150+ MPH speed, just like the SRT6. Only difference is acceleration (SRT6 is supercharged), and some of us have already survived that phase of our lives!

What do you give up in an SE vs. Limited/SRT6 model?

01) Leather interior (SE is dark slate gray cloth)
02) Poorly designed cup holder in Limited/SRT6 (a plus in SE)
03) Silver-colored ***** on stereo & cigarette lighter (SE's are black).
04) Silver-colored engine cover on Limited (SE is charcoal colored; SRT6 is unique).
05) Fog lights (easy aftermarket add-on)
06) Netting mounted on passenger-side of tunnel (a real show stopper!! - Yeah, Right!!)
07) Floor mats (aftermarket easy to find; in MN I'd get rubber ones anyway)
08) Universal garage door opener
09) Dual power seats (SE's are manual)
10) Stereo system has only 4 speakers on SE (Limited/SRT6 has 6-speaker Infinity system with subwoofers)
11) TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System) not included with SE models
12) Alloy wheels on SE are SRT6 version, but better since pockets between spokes are painted & clear-coated (described in brochure as Full-Face with Metallic Gray Pockets) . SE might have the best looking OEM wheel of any XFire model.

And this particular SE has the 5-spd Autostick tranny and that is somewhat rare. Most SE's were 6-spd manuals.

I've talked myself into it. You better get it before I do!!! I can drive around with the top down in SC for 9-10 months a year!!

I'd buy the SE, but I'd offer something in the low 15's. I just bought a 2005 Limited roadster with 5149 miles and transferable 7/70,000 warranty from a private seller in Florida for $14,000 two weeks ago, and have watched several other roadsters sell in the past two months. One thing I can tell you is that SE's are slow sellers in comparison to the Limited and the base models. When you look at relative value, the SE doesn't offer many upgrades from the base, and it surely is missing a lot when compared to the Limited. I actually prefer the cloth seats in the SE, and I like the color and the wheels, so at the right price I think it is a good choice.

Remember, it's pretty darn cold in Minnesota right now. I can't think of a better time to buy a roadster than when the temperature is below zero. That dealer would probably prefer to have $15,500 in the bank right now, rather than waiting until May for a higher number.
