Default New owner (hopefully)

Greetings!

I am going to check out an 05 roadster tomorrow which I hope I will be buying. Just 29,000mi! the seller isn't sure if it is a base or limited. What is the easiest way to tell? This car has leather seats and navigation.

From reading this forum I know to look closely at the rear window and top operation. any other tips?

IF all goes according to plan I want to add some tint and a bluetooth stereo receiver. CAn anyone recommend a good shop in LA?

Thanks

Welcome to the forum!!!!

You can easily tell a Limited Roadster from a Base Roadster. The Limited has two tone leather leather interior with power seats, the base has cloth and manual seats. The major difference is that all Base models have a 6 speed manual transmission. Exterior features are also slightly different the Limited has silver trim around the windshield and the fender strakes are also silver the Base does not.

Premium two tone leather seats was a limited option ($250), not standard. Otherwise you are dead on. Limiteds also had heated seats -- base does not. I recall the radio ***** are black on the base; silver on the premium. Goofy, huh?

I think the Nav system belongs to the Limited.

The Navigation was a $1200 option on the Limited and the SRT6. It was not available on the Base model.

A quick way is to see if the car has fog lights. No fog lamps indicate the base model. Of course, someone could add fog lamps to a base so one needs to check carefully the other things mentioned here.

When I ordered my 2005 Roadster Limited in 2004 there was no charge for the premium two tone interior....or maybe the dealer picked up the charge. Wish I still had the window sticker to verify.

Well Gypsy, my main concerns with this convertible are mostly cosmetic. There is a strap on the convertible top, similar to a seat belt, which has come loose from the front of the top and hangs down if not tucked back in. Towards the rear the strap is breaking in segments. Seems like a critical piece to the top but it goes up and down just fine. Any thoughts?

Well, my name is not Gypsy, but I'll try to help.

It appears to me that the function of that strap is to keep the top tight in that area and from sagging too much between the struts. On the side that is broken, how does the top look in relation to the other side that I may assume is OK?

And to keep things interesting, beginning in 2006, Chrysler introduced (?) the Special Edition Roadster. All base features except for satin door handles, SRT wheels, and all were Blaze Red. Nobody seems to know why these small changes were made and the Special Edition was brought out......maybe a marketing idea......maybe too many SRT wheels in stock.......In any event they don't seem to be out there in large numbers.....I have a 2007 SE.
