Unhappy Would You Believe It!!!

Can you believe it.....our 2 month old top has sprung -something-, don't know what exactly.

May be someone could give me advice...
Definitely going back to dealership on Monday, but would like some ammo first.
My fear is they'll say another new top or some crap as such...REALLY!
Here is a photo of the broken cable-tensioner-whatever-piece...

Any help would be appreciated, Thanks,
Smallfry

By the looks of the lack of replies, no one knows very much about the convertible mechanism. Me included. I'm sure someone who does, will chime in soon. Good luck.

I'd say they forgot to tighten the cable....but, I really don't know since mine has never broken....good luck with the dealer who installed it....there should be some warranty there since it is new...

Dealer most likely outsourced the top replacement to a local trim shop and they didn't tighten the cable.
PM Iamfink2 to see if he knows what it is - He's the forum convertible top guru.

good guy on ebay with top parts- looks like this is it if you have a problem getting through the dealer. I have bought from him a few times with great success.

Thanks for all the looks.
I believe I figured out what this cable does. It looks to be part of the system to snap the front section up and down when you release the locking handle. It still works as before, but since I only drive it on wash days, I can't tell if it's been any easier to relock the front down or not.
Work has come up this morning so I can't get to the dealer, unless maybe, I can break away early...
Will keep posted....smallfry
