Crossfire Updated Navigation CD's?

Does anyone know how a Crossfire owner with GPS Navigation will know when new CD's are issued? NAVTECH (now NAVTEQ) states that they update their United States database quarterly. Chrysler accesses the NAVTEQ database "at least once a year" but produces their own CD's. (At NAVTEQ's website you can buy other car manufacturer's updated CD's every 6 months, but NOT Chrysler's.) My Chrysler Parts Manager says that he will never know when new ones are available unless he has a part number. Since Chrysler doesn't issue part numbers sequentially for updates according to him, he says he will never know when an update is available. Also, Chrysler Tech Authority doesn't show the Navigation CD's among their manual listings. Chrysler Customer Service is totally worthless in my opinion!

I partially agree. Chrysler customer service told me to talk to my dealer. He said call Chrysler. Chrysler did finally give me a phone number for Becker - - - no longer in service. Quite the jerk a round for a 2K radio.

Re: Crossfire Updated Navigation CD's?

Updates are driven based on two factors, a significant amount of changes in road info and the car companies feeling on if an update is needed. Truth be told most of the updates that people pay for go unused. If Chrysler is going to foot the bill for updated map software I would expect to see an offer every 2 years and even that might be a bit much.

The dealer today said the only way I could get an update is to buy new cd's at $300!! Hmmm I may pull it and install a pioneer.

No problem, just that spending the money for updates that you might not benefit from would seem like throwing money away.

You know, I am starting to think I threw away money when I bought the non Becker/Becker with no dealer support.

Been there. Only one entry for xfire and that was dealing with an Ipod. Edited update. Thanks for your help. I posted on the Becker site, maybe someone will help there.

Chrysler has set up a complaint hot line for customers to call with issues. They told me the more people who call about a specific complaint like updated navigation CD's, the more likely they'll fix the issue! So I suggest everyone call with their vin # and file a complaint!!!!

We've gone through this a thousand times on here. Buy a Tom Tom, it's cheaper than new discs. The screen is better and you can take it from car to car. Frankly, our nav is slow to come up with a route, a pain to program and doesn't really provide the best ways to go.

Re: Crossfire Updated Navigation CD's?

I want the factory nav to be up-datable. If you don't then simply use your tom tom. ;-)

Also this would be a free update, no disc purchase would be necessary.

Shush, it looks and sounds nice and despite the fact I have been on major freeways and been told I was "off road" I like it.
Anyway I can still read a map and they are cheaper than all of these toys.:p
In fifty odd words I have reached my destination, bye.

I have ran my garmin, at the same time I have my factory nav on, and they are in sinc for now...I would like to have the updates as well, but won't hold my breath that a XF will ever get any support...

It would be nice to have my 17 year old street and house number listed in there.

See this other thread. I have the NAVTEQ Crossfire GPS Disk update data, if a sharp computer programmer can rework it. NAVTEQ uses the .DB extension for their GPS data files. Their latest update was September, 2009.
